Gospel singer almost booted off Delta flight for singing new single

A Grammy-nominated gospel singer was almost kicked off a Delta flight when she refused to stop performing her new single – which she insisted was just her “doing what God told me to do.”

Detroit-born Bobbi Storm, 36, featured vocalist on the 2024 Grammy-nominated album “The Maverick Way” by Christian group Maverick City Music, shared a video of her attempt to sing on a plane.

An Instagram clip shows him walking down the aisle and telling passengers he’s “looking for a chart right now on the Billboard” when a flight attendant asks him to “sit down and be quiet.”

Storm replied that “the seat belt sign is off so it’s not distracting.”

After sitting down, he announced: “I just found out I’m going to win two Grammys. My first time, you guys.

“I sing for God and my song is out on all platforms and it’s called ‘We Can’t Forget Him.’

“I want to share this with you guys,” Storm added to thunderous applause.

The crew seemed unimpressed and told him to shut up, but he claimed the other passengers were “enjoying it.”

“Well, I didn’t enjoy it. I asked you, can you shut up?” the crew who sounded frustrated fired back.

“Will I go to jail if I don’t?” Storm asks her, and she asks him if she’s just “willing and can shut up right now.”

“I did what God told me to do,” he replied.

At that point, the staff told him he was “your flight leader,” saying: “I need you to follow my instructions. My instructions are for you to answer my questions. Can you shut up now?”

Storm then turned to his captive audience and asked: “What do you think.”

After no one voiced support, the flight attendant told him: “Well, if you can’t follow my instructions, you won’t get on this flight.”

He reluctantly gave in and said: “Then it’s fine. If you’re the one responsible for all of that, then it’s fine.”

But as the worker walked away, Storm turned to the passenger and in a hushed tone said: “I’ll sing it softly for you in the back, if that’s OK. It’s called ‘We Can’t Forget Him.’

“I don’t know the issue. No one else has ever had a problem,” he added of the crew.

Storm then began to sing while those around her awkwardly looked away from the impromptu performance.

In another video, Storm then claims that Delta called to apologize.

“No rules were broken. I only spread my joy with people after they gave me the opportunity to do so,” he said.

The singer said he did not want the flight attendant to be reprimanded or lose his job because of the incident.

“I just hope that if he watches this, he can learn a valuable lesson about how to treat others,” he said, adding that people can support him by streaming his music.

Many social media users expressed their disapproval of his actions and video – with some stating that passengers must follow the flight crew’s instructions.

“I am a Christian and Aviation Att. This is out of order … It would be in order if you would prepare the flight att (by asking if it’s OK to sing or perform or whatever) ahead of time … and there would be no problem,” one wrote.

Another user said Storm was “totally wrong” and wished she was on the no-fly list.

A third added: “This could be considered annoying, people are tired, on the go and don’t want to be disturbed.”
