Greg Meeks, ‘Squad’ took thousands from nonprofit under investigation for funding Hamas

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and members of her progressive House “Squad” received thousands of dollars in campaign contributions from nonprofits under investigation for potentially funding Hamas terrorism.

Last month Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares announced Muslims of America for Palestine was under investigation for “allegations that the organization may have used funds raised for purposes impermissible under state law, including benefiting or providing support to terrorist organizations.”

The group is also known as AJP Educational Foundation Inc.

The complaint was linked to a May 2022 lawsuit that accused Muslim Americans for Palestine of “providing indirect support for Hamas”

In 2021, AMP’s executive director, Osama Abu Irshaid, donated $3,000 to Rep. Gregory Meeks (D-Queens), on the record. Meeks is the top Democrat on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, which has been dogged by corruption allegations for years.

A year later, Irshaid gave $500 to Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) — who came under fire after publicly defending Hamas and calling for the destruction of Israel.

He made smaller donations to other Squad members, including AOC ($105); Missouri Representative Cori Bush ($56); Rep. Minnesota Ilhan Omar ($56) and Rep. Massachusetts Ayanna Pressley ($31.)

Salah Sarsour, AMP national board member, added another $1,000 to Tlaib in 2019, while Dr. Hatem Al-Bazian, who is listed as AMP chairman, has given Omar $1,250 over the years.

“The work of AMP and all Palestinian advocacy organizations has never been more important,” Tlaib said in a quote posted on the AMP website.

In AMP’s scorecard for New York state legislators, only AOC and Rep. Jamaal Bowman received an A rating.

Even before the Virginia investigation, Americans for Palestine had long been the focus of antisemitic activity, according to the Anti-Defamation League. On October 7 — the day Hamas terrorists killed approximately 1,400 Israeli civilians — the group issued a statement declaring that “Israeli terrorism is the cause of violence and chaos in the region.”

“Zionism is a racist ideology that promotes the supremacy of white Jews over other people living in Palestine. At its core, Zionism is white supremacy,” Irshaid thundered in a send to X from May 2022.

AMP also works closely with Students for Justice in Palestine — whose founder is AMP board member Hatem Al-Bazian — a radical student organization that has been banned by Brandeis University and the entire Florida state university system for supporting Hamas.

“It is no surprise that members of the Hamas Caucus and other radical leftist Democrats have received large donations from the AJP Educational Foundation Inc., also known as American Muslims for Palestine, a non-profit organization currently under investigation for funding terrorism,” said the NY Congressman upper Claudia Tenney (R-Finger Lakes). “I am honored to receive an F rating from this terrorist organization because of my commitment to Israel.”

In a statement, AMP insisted they are innocent of the allegations and will be prosecuted.

“AMP does not support terrorism. AMP is a wholly US non-profit organization, which raises funds within the United States and puts them to its own use within the United States, for the purpose expressly stated by law of educating the American public about the rich history and culture of Palestine,” said a spokesperson told The Post.
