Gucci-flaunting Miami influencer gets 5 years in prison for $1.5M COVID fraud scheme

A Miami influencer has gone from wearing Gucci to prison clothes.

Danielle Miller, 32, was sentenced to five years in federal prison Thursday after she pleaded guilty earlier this year to running a $1.5 million COVID-19 aid fraud scheme, according to prosecutors.

The self-described fraudster flaunted his wealth, including driving around in a Rolls-Royce, riding a private jet and living in a luxury apartment fueled by taking out more than $1 million in pandemic-related loans meant for struggling Americans, the US Attorney said. Office for the District of Massachusetts said.

“Ms. Miller is not an influencer, she is a convicted felon,” Our Acting Attorney Joshua Levy said in a scathing statement. “In an effort to become famous on social media, Ms. Miller relied on fraud to fund a jet-setting lifestyle personal, luxury apartments and other wealth accoutrements.

“Today’s sentence should make it clear that controlling a high society social media presence behind the backs of hard-working taxpayers is a path to prison, not fleeting fame.”

Miller, a Horace Mann School graduate, swiped federal loans from July 2020 to May 2021 using the personal information of more than 10 innocent people and fake business names, Levy’s office said.

He would use a fake driver’s license in the victim’s name but with his photo.

In one instance, he used such a scheme to travel on a Gulfstream private jet from Florida to California. Once there, he stayed at a five-star hotel using an identity he had stolen, the feds said.

When discussing the allegations against him in a February 2022 New York Magazine piece, he unabashedly admitted, “Honestly, I consider myself more of a fraud than anything else.”

He was ordered to give up several luxury items he once boasted, including a Rolex watch, Insider reported last month, citing a forfeiture notice.

Other items include Louis Vuitton bags, Rimowa handbags and Dior blouses and shoes.

Miller, who has more than 30,000 followers on Instagram, pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud and two counts of aggravated identity theft in March.
