Gypsy Rose Blanchard Recalls Pulling The Trigger At Mom Before Murder

The desire to be free from her mother’s abuse had arisen in Gypsy Rose Blanchard long before she hatched her famous murder plan.

The ex-convict recently opened up about trying to kill his mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, after she was severely punished for trying to escape parental manipulation. The alleged incident occurred during a heated argument, during which Gypsy picked up a gun and opened fire.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard Fears for Her Life After Her Mother Buys a Gun

After spending nearly a decade in prison for participating in her mother’s murder, Gypsy uses her newfound freedom to spread awareness about the abuse she suffered. He recalls the time he tried to kill Dee Dee with a gun in the new Lifetime documentary, “The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard.”

The 32-year-old tries to escape her mother’s manipulation after meeting an older man named Dan at a sci-fi convention. He was 36 years old, while she believed he was just 15 when they started chatting online.

However, Gypsy finds out she is 19 and runs away to be with Dan. Unfortunately, she accidentally left her phone at home, and Dee Dee reveals a message filled with her escape plan.

The parents tracked down other convention goers and found someone who knew Dan’s address. Once she dragged her daughter home, Gypsy claims she was severely beaten, chained to a bed, and had a “voodoo hex” placed on her. In his words:

“He took every precaution he could to make sure I didn’t try to contact anyone through social media. My mom bought a gun, and that scared me. I am afraid he will kill me.”

Despite breaking up with Dan, the 32-year-old says she never stopped plotting to escape her mother’s abuse. But, all his efforts were blocked by Dee Dee until the defeat finally led to a heated confrontation.

During their argument, Gypsy finds her mother dropping a gun on the table in front of them. But the younger Blanchard instinctively defended himself with the weapon when the going got tough. “I grabbed the gun, and I threatened him with it, and before I knew it, I was pulling the trigger as hard as I could,” he said in the documents, adding:

“When I shot my mom, I just remember thinking, ‘Oh my God, did I just do that? What did I just do?’ Some of them hit him, some of them hit the wall. But the wound was superficial; it barely grazed him.”

“That’s when I realized it was a BB gun, and that relieved me. I had no intention of killing him. But I’m surprised I pulled the trigger at all,” claims Gypsy. Realizing his mother was not in danger, the tension left his body, and the two continued their conversation.

The ex-convict stated that he “spit out all my anger and questions” on his mother, wondering why she was not allowed to “live a normal life”. Dee Dee allegedly told her she needed special care and again forced her daughter into a life of false medical diagnoses and treatment.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Freedom Leads to Calls to Free Her Ex Who Killed Her MotherMEGA

“I started crying, and I told him, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry for hurting you,'” Gypsy continued. “My mother was such a good manipulator that she was able to bring me back into submission.”

Gypsy Rose Is Not Allowed To Communicate With Her Ex-Boyfriend

The timeline of Gypsy’s BB gun episode with Dee Dee falls around 2011, four years before the matriarch was brutally stabbed to death. In 2015, the younger Blanchard plotted her mother’s death with her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.

While the gruesome crime landed Gypsy nearly a decade in prison, her ex-lover was given a more severe sentence of life in prison. As noted, the 32-year-old was released on parole, but his freedom came with strict rules, including zero communication with Godejohn.

The conditions of his parole clearly stated that he could not talk to her, either by email, text, writing, or even through any third party. Gypsy, who is now back home in Louisiana with her husband, Ryan Scott Anderson, is also required to complete an outpatient mental health program.

Gypsy and Godejohn were online friends for two years before finally meeting in person for a movie date. An extensive text exchange revealed the two are planning to get married, start a family, and have even chosen names for their future children.

However, their first physical encounter is not for a romantic movie date but to carry out their plan to kill Dee Dee. Godejohn had traveled from Wisconsin to Missouri to commit the heinous act on June 9, 2015.
