Hamas founder’s son compares terror group to Nazis, says deaths in war in Gaza ‘not Israel’s fault’

The son of one of Hamas’ co-founders has backed Israel in the war while comparing his father’s terror group to Hitler’s Nazis — insisting that it was “not Israel’s fault” that civilians were killed in the Gaza Strip.

“Hamas started this war. We talk about [an] an organization that has no regard for human life,” Mosab Hassan Yousef, son of Hamas leader Hassan Yousef, told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo.

“In the three previous wars, each time they came back stronger,” the younger Yousef, 45, warned of the continued threat of terrorist groups in the region.

That, he said, was wrong for international leaders to call on Israel to delay its military response to Hamas which slaughtered at least 1,400 people – including women and children – in a surprise attack on Oct. 7.

“No, before we blame Israel, let me tell you something — if [these] civilians choose to be with Hamas, so if they die with Hamas, it is not Israel’s fault,” he said of the ongoing war casualties.

Instead of calling for a ceasefire, “it is better to remain silent at this time,” said the son of the Hamas leader.

The younger Yousef, who defected to Israel in 1997 and served as an informant for Israel’s Shin Bet security service until 2007, openly compared his father’s organization to Adolf Hitler’s Nazi party.

Hamas has anti-Jewish and anti-Israel sentiments written into its founding documents, and is now responsible for the single deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust, he said.

“Because of antisemitism and anti-Israel… [is] what is the similarity between this type of people and the Nazis, because the Nazis about 100 years ago, it is a point of view. And soon after, they released the gas in the room,” said Yousef.

Yousef accused civilians in Gaza of harboring terrorists.

“We saw what they did on October 7, and they hid behind children and women [in Gaza],” he said.

“Israel says ‘evacuate, move civilians.’ Flyers, phone calls, through the media give them the opportunity … to move. But they don’t. They still give protection to Hamas. You know why? Because they cooperate with Hamas.

“And in this case, Israel is not responsible for any harm that happens to civilians in northern Gaza, living now as we speak … Israel made that very clear.”

Yousef urged the international community to turn its attention to other key players in the escalating conflict.

“Look, instead of blaming Israel, they should have protested at the UN and opposed the Egyptian government and other governments that closed the border,” he stressed.

“This is the right thing to do instead of exchanging blame now, and I don’t know what really motivates them, because many [those who want a cease-fire] I’m not sure about their real motives.

“Are the children of Gaza? Or even [do] they have a problem with israel? Do they have a problem with the Jewish people? Is this about jealousy? Why do they inflict emotional pain on the Jewish people as they mourn the disasters of modern nature?”

Although Yousef – who was born in Ramallah, in the West Bank – explained that his “heart is broken by the deaths of the people of Gaza,” he was unwavering in his stance that Israel was justified in trying to eliminate his father’s organization.

“I am also talking about the Palestinians in the West Bank, and the entire Arab world. I don’t see a leader who stands firm and says Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people,” he lamented.

“Today’s premature ceasefire will lead to more violence, certainly to more violence, if we don’t eliminate Hamas now, whatever it takes, even if civilians die. If we don’t do this today, this time, this war, now. Tomorrow, the violence will be greater than this.

“All those clowns came, speaking on behalf of the Palestinian people. They don’t care about the Palestinians. They don’t care about Israel. They are a bunch of hypocrites. They better shut up.”
