Hard times: Comedian Keith Robinson’s life-changing stroke came after taking Viagra

No hard feelings.

Comedian Keith Robinson says the crippling stroke he suffered in 2020 happened shortly after he took an ill-timed Viagra.

“My c–kblocking attack had to stick in his face where it shouldn’t be,” Robinson, 60, recalled to The Post by phone this week.

That story — and more — is expected to be told in a new Netflix special filmed at Sony Hall earlier this month.

The show was attended by comedy stars including Amy Schumer and Wanda Sykes and is expected to be released in early 2024.

Trouble for Robinson began on a flight to Phoenix, where the comedian had tried to try out with an old female friend.

“Now I drink and drink on the flight – first class of course – and I’m a little bit beaten up,” Robinson recalls in a slow drawl. He “popped Viagra” 20 minutes before landing.

“I timed it perfectly,” he said.

Robinson, who suffered a smaller stroke in 2016, said he began to feel the symptoms as he landed, but decided to forgo medical treatment in favor of his original plan.

“Should I go to the hospital and live or try to make love,” Robinson said, recalling an internal discussion. “And he saw me and then things started to happen, but badly. My arms are gone, my legs are gone and the only thing that still works is Viagra.”

Robinson didn’t end up getting medical attention until the next day.

“She’s someone I’ve worked with for years,” Robinson said of the unidentified female friend. “This is the first time we will get down to the nitty-gritty. That’s the only reason I fly.”

Viagra does not put its users at additional risk of stroke, but there have been anecdotal reports of stroke after taking Viagra while drinking heavily.

Robinson barely made it and the recovery took years – but in early 2023, he started to re-emerge in the New York City comedy scene.

The Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village, a favorite hangout, even put up a fence for it.

“They do not [Americans with Disabilities Act] obey, they are just for him to go on stage,” said Comedy Cellar owner Noam Dworman. “He loves it so much that he won’t stop. He’s learned to talk about it on stage, and I’d say he’s stronger now than he’s ever been in his career.”
