He worked with Sean Connery in “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade” in 1989 before dividing audiences with 2008’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

Ford looked very emotional on stage as he praised the latest film in the franchise. His comments, transcribed by Deadline, also marked the end of his long-running career as a whip archaeologist.

“I’m very proud to say that this one is great, and this is one of the reasons,” he said, pointing to Waller-Bridge, who is rumored to be taking over the franchise after Ford retires. The “Fleabag” creator, 37, said he had “time [her] life” made the film.

In a previous interview with The Hollywood Reporter released in April, Mads talked about what it was like working with Ford on set.

“It was the first time I met him and he was a very powerful person. Not just as an actor, but physically,” he recalls. “I remember the first day we were shooting, it was a night shoot, then we stopped at 5 in the morning — and then he got on his mountain bike and went for a 50 kilometer bike ride [31 miles]. Harrison is a monster of a man, a very good monster.”

Mads also praised the latter film, saying that it reminded him a lot of “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”
