Hollywood star Emma Watson has opened up about the great things about her friendship with fellow “Harry Potter” actor Tom Felton.
The couple first met on the set of the “Harry Potter” films decades ago. Although they initially started off on the wrong foot, their relationship blossomed into a long-lasting friendship.
In Felton’s upcoming book memoir, the actress admits that her relationship with him was “one of the purest loves.” Watson also shut down rumors of being romantically linked, saying their relationship was always platonic.
She also shared that they “always have each other’s backs,” adding that Felton has helped her through important points in her life.

Ahead of the release of Felton’s new memoir, Watson opened up about her relationship with her former co-star, which began when they debuted in the “Harry Potter” fantasy film series.
The film based on JK Rowling’s eponymous novel stars the duo over the years in the roles of Draco Malfoy/Felton and Hermione Granger/Watson.
“You know the people in your life who make you feel seen?” Watson writes in the preface to the book, per Insider. “That person who somehow became a witness to everything that happened? That person who knows — really knows — what’s happening to you and what you’re going through, without anything to say? For me, that person is Tom Felton.”
Although they are now best friends, the two actors weren’t always that way but spending time together helped change that narrative.
“When we first met, I was a moony and maybe slightly annoying 9-year-old girl who followed him around like a puppy, desperate for his attention,” she says.
Emma Watson ‘Grateful’ For Their Friendship
Watson went on to reflect on Felton’s role in “Harry Potter.” Felton’s character is a violent young man who, along with his friends, wreaks havoc in almost every installment of the film franchise.
However, the actor insists that his beloved friend “has a heart the size of a planet” and is a far cry from his mischievous “Harry Potter” character.
“He might be playing the bully. He may sometimes feel like a bully. But take it from me: she can’t be far from one,” added the “Ballet Shoes” star. “He is creative, sensitive, and wholehearted. He is someone who wants to love everything and everyone.”
“The friendship we share has gotten me through some of the most challenging and heartbreaking moments of my life,” the actress continued before adding that she was “grateful” to have been by his side all along.
No Romantic Connection

Despite being close, the pair have remained platonic friends since they first met. The actress shared that they never shared any romantic relationship in the “Harry Potter” 20th anniversary reunion special that premiered on HBO Max earlier this year.
“Nothing has ever, ever, ever, ever happened romantically with us,” “We just love each other. That’s all I can say about that.”
The “Beauty and the Beast” star also reiterated her views in the memoir, adding that people refuse to believe that they were never intimate.
He added, per Insider: “For more than 20 years now, we’ve loved each other in a special way, and I’ve lost count of how many times people have said to me, ‘You must be drunk, just once!’ ‘You must have kissed!’ ‘There must be something!’”

Watson went on to list other great things about the “Feed” cast. He shared that he has an attitude of assuming the best of everyone.
“Even if he doesn’t have the whole picture, he will have no doubt that I come from a good place and will do my best,” he wrote each Insider. “That’s true friendship, and to be seen and loved like that is one of the great gifts of my life.”
For the “Little Women” actress, the relationship she shares with Felton is “one of the purest loves,” far “deeper” than a romantic relationship.
The actor said, “We are soul mates, and we always have each other’s backs. I know we always will. It makes me emotional to think about it. “The world is lucky to have you, but I’m even luckier to have you as my friend.”
