As for what caused Jansen’s tragic death so soon, the family confirmed in their joint statement that the 28-year-old died of an “enlarged heart.” Panettieres’ words read: “Although it provided some relief, the Medical Examiner reported Jansen’s sudden death was due to cardiomegaly (enlarged heart), coupled with complications of the aortic valve.”
The poignant piece concluded, “We deeply appreciate the outpouring of love and support for our family as we deal with this unimaginable loss, and ask that we be granted privacy during this time of mourning. We love you so much, Jansen, and you will be in our hearts forever -long time.”
