On Monday morning, Zack took to Instagram to share the “receipt” he promised during the live reunion, which he also shared on Instagram Stories on Sunday night.
“if there is anything you remember about me. This is a hat I hope you remember,” he wrote. “I believe all lives can be redeemed. And the only thing we all need is grace.”
He then warned his followers that his story dealt with the topics of mental illness and suicide.

Zack explained that he was full of “anger and rage” in high school because his mother’s mental illness and addiction were “out of control.” He claimed that he sometimes came home from school to find his room destroyed after his mother had a manic episode.
Sometimes, she said, her mother would disappear for days at a time, sometimes taking her younger sister with her. He said there was “no stability” in his upbringing and “lost track” of how many times they had to move.

Although he admits to not understanding mental illness or addiction as a teenager, he admits that he was angry when he was growing up and had to experience the police coming to the house and his mother threatening to commit suicide.
In the pod, Zack and his current wife, Bliss Poureetezadi, bonded over the song, “I Hope You Dance.” Zack revealed that his mother dedicated the song to him after they had a “big argument.” The song later became the first dance at their wedding, which fans saw during season 4 of “Love Is Blind”.

The “Love Is Blind” contestant then discussed how she was invited to a youth group at a church during her senior year of high school. After a conversation with a pastor who told him a story about a man who sacrificed everything so others could be forgiven, Zack said he realized “what it means to give grace.”
“The idea that parents would accept the punishment their child deserved not because it was just but because of love changed something in me,” he wrote. “That’s when I chose to forgive my mother. Forgive him. And that choice changed my life.”
‘And That’s When The Light Bulb Went Out’

By the time Zack entered his junior year of college, his mother had committed suicide several times and lost custody of his younger sister. Zack spends his time volunteering at a homeless shelter and listening to “the stories of men and women who are at rock bottom.”
Zack meets a man, a father, who reveals that he is homeless because of his addiction. “I asked him if his children knew about it. He told me he lied to them and didn’t tell them,” Zack wrote. “And that’s when the light bulb went off.”

Zack realizes that his mother’s reason for avoiding seeing him may be due to the fact that he is also homeless and “doesn’t want me to see how bad he is.” After he finally contacted her, he drove across Washington state to see her.
Although her mother tried to back out of their meeting, the first in six months, again, Zack told her to come and, luckily, she did.

During the meeting, Zack noticed that it looked like “he hadn’t eaten or slept in weeks.” After hugging her and forgiving her, Zack realizes that she “still hasn’t forgiven herself.” At the time, she was living in a storage unit and using a space heater to keep warm.
Calling it “the day everything changed,” Zack described how his mom “miraculously” started on the road to recovery. Fortunately, he also had the support of Zack’s grandmother and aunt, who “never stopped believing in him.”

Zack explained that he spent the rest of his life serving the mentally and physically disabled. Zack and his sister also got to spend “a few normal Christmases” with him as a family before he died.
“They are moments that I would never have had if I had held onto the pain of the past and chosen not to forgive,” Zack wrote. “Grace is not fair. But if we choose to give it every day, we make the world a better place for everyone.”
‘Somehow He Found Some Hope In His Despair’

“When I was going through my mother’s things after she died, I found a little note,” he continued. “It was dated shortly after the day I sat with him in that little town in the middle of nowhere.”
“It said ‘Somehow he found some hope in his despair.’ We can all be someone’s hope in despair.”

Zack wrote, “We can all be someone’s hope in despair” in the caption, tagging the Love Is Blind Instagram account. Many fans thanked Zack for sharing his story.
“Thank you for speaking up and being honest about your struggles! Signed, every kid who had a rough childhood,” wrote one fan.
“Thank you for sharing your story and giving hope to others who may be going through the same thing,” another follower chimed in. “And THANK YOU for using the platform you had last night for good and to show grace.”
