Hillary Clinton blasted Tucker Carlson as a “useful idiot” on Wednesday ahead of the conservative commentator’s much-anticipated interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“He’s being called a useful idiot,” the former secretary of state told MSNBC host Alex Wagner when asked about the upcoming Putin-Carlson meeting.
“I mean, if you actually read the translation of what’s being said in the Russian media, they’re making fun of it,” Clinton claimed. “I mean, he’s like a puppy dog.”
Carlson confirmed earlier this week in an X post that he would be interviewing the Russian leader in Moscow.
It will be Putin’s first interview with an American journalist since Russia’s February 24, 2022, invasion of Ukraine.
Carlson, a former Fox News host, has often criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the billions of dollars in military aid for Kyiv that the US government has authorized.
His interview with Putin will be posted Thursday on his website, according to Carlson’s Instagram account.
Clinton said she wouldn’t be surprised if Carlson ends up with a new gig after her interview with the Russian president airs.

“You know, he somehow — after being fired from so many branches in the United States — I wouldn’t be surprised if he showed up with a contract with a Russian store because he’s a useful idiot,” Clinton said.
“He said things that were not true. He lied to Vladimir Putin’s pack of lies about Ukraine. So, I don’t see why Putin wouldn’t give him an interview.”
