Hillary Clinton sounds alarm on Putin election meddling, warning ‘he’ll do it again’

Hillary Clinton warned that Russian President Vladimir Putin could interfere in the upcoming 2024 election.

The former standard-bearer of the Democratic Party reiterated his disappointment that Putin interfered in the 2016 election, and worries that he is being underestimated this time.

“The Russians have proven themselves to be pretty good at meddling and if he had the chance, he would do it again,” Clinton surmised on MSNBC’s “Inside with Jen Psaki” on Sunday.

“I don’t think despite all the denials, there is any doubt that he interfered in our election,” he said. “Part of the reason he worked so hard against me was because he didn’t think he wanted me in the White House.”

In the run-up to the 2016 presidential election, cybersecurity experts discovered a breach of Democratic National Committee emails linked to actors based in Russia.

Russia is also believed to have set up troll farms to fuel anger and discord on social media around the 2016 election, among other influence campaigns.

Former President Donald Trump has vehemently denied any allegations that his campaign directly coordinated with Russia before his victory.

Ironically, many Republicans later accused Big Tech companies of meddling in the 2020 election under the guise of opposing Russia.

Several social media companies floated a great October 2020 story from The Post about Hunter Biden’s laptop that raised concerns about then-candidate Joe Biden.

Despite accusations that the laptop material was fake, many news outlets have confirmed the bulk of the hard drive.

In the time since the 2016 and 2020 elections, Russia has found itself increasingly isolated and battered by crippling Western sanctions over its bloody invasion of neighboring Ukraine.

Putin has an International Criminal Court warrant for his arrest that appears to prevent him from attending international conferences such as the Group of 20 summit earlier this month, or the BRICS summit last month, when he chose a remote address.

Both Putin and Trump have at times exchanged kind words. The Russian president, accused of brutally murdering several of his rivals and then playing dumb about it, recently denounced Trump’s impeachment as emblematic of the “rottenness of the American political system.”

“Putin is this authoritarian dictator who literally kills his opposition, kills journalists, poisons people who disagree with him, invades other countries, [and] interfering with our election,” Clinton argued.

He warned that there was “creeping fascism” and “wannabe dictators” looming on the US political horizon. Clinton did not give any names.

His former adversary, Trump, is facing 91 criminal charges that include four different allegations. He has categorically denied any wrongdoing and has also vowed never to forgive himself.

“I don’t believe him in anything,” Clinton quipped about her pledge not to pardon herself.

At one point during the wide-ranging interview, Clinton weighed in on the plight of House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) as he grappled with a fractious wafer-thin Republican majority.

He stated that McCarthy’s announced impeachment inquiry against Biden was symbolic of his capitulation to his right wing.

“Unfortunately, the Speaker of the House is too weak to resist the restrictions of the most fanatical members who do not care what the truth or facts are,” he said. “They want a political problem that they can try to use for their own benefit.”

McCarthy is trying to rally his caucus to avoid a government shutdown, but enough defectors have gathered votes to mentorpedo his every attempt so far.

Congress has until Sept. 30 at 11:59 p.m. to craft a funding resolution — or there will be a government shutdown.
