An asylum officer with the Department of Homeland Security has been placed on leave after it was revealed that he once served as a spokesman for the Palestine Liberation Organization — and recently wrote “F–k Israel” in numerous posts supporting Hamas, according to reports.
Nejwa Ali, an official with the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, a Homeland Security agency, worked as a public affairs officer for PLO delegations to the US in 2016 and 2017, the Daily Wire reported.
He was hired at USCIS in 2019 as an asylum officer and earlier this year was appointed as an adjudication officer, according to his LinkedIn profile. Roles include vetting people before they enter the US.
Ali has expressed his support for the Palestinian cause for years – and recently posted inflammatory comments about Israel following a surprise attack by Hamas, according to the outlet.

“The Palestinian people have suffered under the brutal, illegal, military, APARTHEID Israeli occupation for over 75 years,” Ali reportedly wrote on October 7, the day the terrorists launched their attack.
An image he posted with the caption “Free Palestine” depicted armed terrorists paragliding into Israel.
“F–k Israel, its government, and its army @stateofisrael @timesofisrael are you ready for your downfall…as we are ready for our freedom,” he wrote on Instagram.

“Israel and every Israel [sic] need to remember one thing: respect our existence or expect resistance. Easy. No apologies. #freepalestine,” he added.
The next day, Ali wrote: “Free Palestine and F–K APARTHEID Israel, and any Israeli who supports bulls–t. Your privilege is blinding, it seems, but ignorance is not bliss and I am asking every Israeli to take responsibility for the actions of their government, IF they do not speak out against Israel and the Israeli army.”
On Oct. 9 — two days after more than 1,400 people were slaughtered in Israel — he posted a video with the caption “F–k Israel and any Jew who supports Israel” and a photo that said: “A country that has nothing but God has everything needed.”
He also included an antisemitic cartoon of a Jewish nose.

Ali’s Facebook profile describes him as being from Dearborn, Michigan, a city with the largest Muslim population in the US.
“Palestine will be free one day,” he wrote on Instagram. “F–K APARTHEID Israel and any Israeli who supports that bull—t. F–k you, may God forgive you. and save us from crocodile tears, I’ll give zero f–ks.”

In another Facebook post, he encouraged people to “be on the right side of history” and included another rant against the Jewish state.
Ali claimed to the Daily Wire that he still works for DHS — and declined to say whether he had disclosed his previous employment with the PLO.
“That’s none of your f–king business,” he told the outlet. “Mind your business before I call the police. If I were you, I would respectfully hang up the phone right now.”

However, agency spokesman Matthew Burke told the Washington Examiner on Wednesday that “this individual has been placed on administrative leave.”
“USCIS strongly condemns antisemitism and the use of violent rhetoric in any form,” Burke said.
“USCIS employees are held to high ethical standards on and off duty, including their presence on social media. Any violation of these standards is taken seriously by the agency.”
Emilio Gonzalez, who ran USCIS during the Bush administration, told the Washington Times that Ali “should be terminated.”
He’s surprised he was hired in the first place given his background.

“The PLO is a designated foreign terrorist organization,” Gonzalez told the outlet. “The fact that he worked for them and then was hired by the Department of Homeland Security tells me that someone dropped the ball with his background check.”
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) demanded in a letter Thursday to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas that the agency “terminate Ms. Ali’s employment … without delay” and suggested that her biases played a role in immigration cases involving both Palestinians and Israeli or Jewish applicants.
“Ms. Ali explicitly linked her prejudiced views to her work,” Hawley wrote. “For example, in one social media post linked to her name, she included the hashtags ‘#asylumseekers #palestine #refugeeswelcome’ — indicating that she may have prioritized immigration cases certain than others at DHS. This is unacceptable.”
“Biden’s DHS needs to explain – now – why they have a pro-terrorist, pro-genocide anti-Semitic radical adjudicating asylum claims and why in the world he hasn’t been fired,” Hawley wrote on X.
According to USCIS, applicants are “thoroughly vetted” and face an “extensive” background check before being hired for a permanent position, the Washington Times reported.
Its handbook also instructs employees not to post anything to social media that is “discriminatory, obscene, harassing or intimidating.”
