‘House Of The Dragon’ Actress Milly Alcock Finds Fame ‘Straining’

Not many celebrities get used to the spotlight easily, and Milly Alcock from the hot new HBO series “House of the Dragon” is one of them. The 22-year-old stars as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the “Game of Thrones” prequel.

Alcock described the whole process as “stressful” and revealed that he only looked at what was necessary online. The 22-year-old also said she doesn’t have many famous people in her life, so she doesn’t know who to talk to.

Alcock recently joined Nylon Magazine in an interview and revealed that she isn’t having the best time navigating her newfound popularity. According to the actress, she did her best not to get involved with him because it made her “very anxious.” Alcock also revealed that he felt like seeing his face everywhere was “stressful” and overall described fame as difficult to navigate.”

He said, “It’s like a part-time job, really. I do not know. I try not to look at it and try not to get involved with it because it doesn’t benefit me.”

The 22-year-old continued, “It makes me very anxious. I see my face is always strained. No one has to do that. It sucks, man. I don’t know how socialites of the world can do it. It kind of drives me off the wall. It’s a very difficult space to navigate.”

Milly Alcock Says She Doesn’t Know Any Celebrities

Alcock went on to reveal that he didn’t have a special relationship with many famous people, so there was no one to turn to for advice. Everyone he had personal contact with was mostly “very normal”, and he had no family members involved in the arts.

“I don’t really know anyone who’s been through what I’ve been through. All my friends were very normal and went to uni and just did very basic things, and my family wasn’t in the arts, so it was weird,” the actress said.

“It feels like someone opened Pandora’s box, and you’re just looking through the glass. It’s quite Alice in Wonderland-y. It’s really weird.”

Milly Alcock Says Her Complaint With Emily Carey Is ‘Ironic’

When asked about his on-screen relationship with Alicent Hightower, played by Emily Carey, Alcock revealed that he thought it was ironic that the storyline was somewhat developed in the real world.

The 22-year-old explained that according to the storyline, the former close friends were pitted against each other by forces beyond their control, and the same is being done now as he and Carey seem to be compared to each other.

“I think the irony I find about the show is that House of the Dragon highlights, yes, patriarchy, yes, misogyny,” Alcock said. “But also the inner hatred that these two women had to face. They had to contradict each other with men’s choices.”

He added, “But what I find quite funny is that the fans also put the actors, the young Alicent and the young Rhaenyra, against each other, and choose who is better, also with the verdict of most of the men. So I think it’s really ironic.”

Milly Alcock Feels Scared

Deeper inside him nylon interview, Alcock revealed that when he started filming the show, he was constantly afraid that he would be fired. He also described the entire filing process as “very scary,” but he was able to adjust in time.

“You quickly adapt, and everything becomes normal,” admitted the star. “But the first two, three months, I just thought I was going to be fired continuously. It was very scary.”

Despite her fears, Alcock said the experience of filming felt “very new and exciting and scary” for her. The 22-year-old was reportedly only involved in the Australian production, so seeing the huge difference in budget was surprising at first.
