WASHINGTON – Members of the House of Representatives introduced a measure Thursday to formally authorize an impeachment inquiry into President Biden over corruption allegations – setting up a key floor vote expected next week.
The resolution directs three House committees to determine “whether sufficient cause exists” to impeach Biden, 81, over his alleged role in the foreign business ventures of son Hunter and brother James Biden during his vice presidency.
Two sources told The Post that the House tentatively plans to vote Wednesday on the legislation, which will be introduced by Rep. Kelly Armstrong (R-ND).
The move was announced just a day after Biden repeatedly denied having any interactions with his brother’s foreign business associates – despite dozens of documented or alleged incidents.
“I’m not. And it’s just a bunch of lies. They’re lying. I’m not. That’s a lie,” Biden told a Post reporter at the White House — prompting a rebuke from House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), who reply“The president just lies again… There are at least 22 instances of Joe Biden talking to or meeting with foreign business associates of Hunter Biden.”

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), one of the three heads of the panel leading the investigation, cited Biden’s false allegations during a Thursday morning appearance on Fox News.
“We know he had dinners, phone calls and meetings because Hunter Biden’s business associate, Devin Archer, testified under oath and told us that. So for him to say it didn’t happen is completely absurd,” Jordan said.
There are photos, records from Hunter’s laptop left behind, and witness statements showing that Joe Biden as vice president sat down with his son and his allies from China, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Russia and Ukraine, alongside many of their American friends.
The impeachment inquiry began Sept. 12 without a floor vote and the latest move comes as Biden’s relatives resist subpoenas demanding their testimony — with the White House questioning the legitimacy of the investigation.
Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) scrapped plans for a floor vote in September when some Republican skeptics said they weren’t sold on the need for an investigation.
GOP leaders say they are confident they have the votes in a divided House, despite only being able to afford four defections following last week’s expulsion of Rep. George Santos (R-NY).

One source told The Post that one reason Armstrong became a major sponsor is that he is well-regarded by both conservatives and more moderate Republicans.
In a Sept. 27 memo, the chairmen of the three committees leading the probe — including the tax-focused Oversight and Ways & Means Panel — laid out the main questions of the impeachment inquiry, which also included whether the president interfered in the federal investigation. into his son.
The committee has used subpoenas, depositions and voluntary interviews over the past year to continue their investigation into Joe and Hunter Biden, showing through testimony and bank records how the president interacted with his son’s business associates.
Two IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, testified to the Ways & Means Committee in the summer that the Justice Department obstructed their five-year investigation into his first son over his alleged tax crimes and prevented them from investigating Joe Biden’s role in foreign earnings. , even if the communication directly involves him.
The House Judiciary Committee has heard testimony from key IRS, FBI and Justice Department officials who have verified whistleblower account details.
The Oversight Committee also heard dramatic testimony from Archer, who told lawmakers that the then-vice president used speakerphone more than 20 times with his son’s friends, ate twice at a DC restaurant with his son’s Central Asian and Eastern European contacts, took a call from Hunter and his Ukrainian employer from Dubai, and coffee in Beijing with a Chinese associate shortly before Hunter founded a government-backed investment fund.
