King Charles’ coronation is days away, and preparations for the ceremony revolve around the king’s love for the environment.
Before taking his seat on the British throne, the former Prince of Wales was recognized for supporting the end of sustainability issues. While serving as heir, the 74-year-old raised awareness of climate change and other environmental problems.
The philanthropist actively supports humanitarian and nature-based projects through his foundation, The Prince’s Charities. Once again proving his commitment to green efforts, the King reused historic items on his big day instead of making new clothes.

As the world tunes in to witness the much-anticipated ceremony on May 6, viewers, especially those with knowledge of the royal family, will be walking down memory lane.
The King, who will be formally enthroned in the Throne Chair, will kill two birds with one stone at the upcoming event. According to reports, the King will pay homage to his royal predecessors by reusing old clothes while incorporating his love for sustainability.
Some of the dresses used for coronation ceremonies since 1821 were last worn by the 74-year-old mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The late king wore a historic robe during his coronation in 1953.
In addition to wearing the robes of the former Head of the Commonwealth, King Charles will adorn himself with other clothes from his predecessors. Responding to the King’s choice in a statement, Buckingham Palace revealed:
“While it is customary for the Supertunica and Imperial Mantle to be reused, His Majesty will also reuse the Colobium Sindonis, Coronation Sword Belt, and Coronation Gloves worn by his grandfather King George VI in the interests of sustainability and efficiency.”
The Palace statement continued, “Her Majesty will be re-wearing the clothes featured in the Coronation Services of King George IV in 1821, King George V in 1911, King George VI in 1937, and Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.”
The historic piece may be decades old, but its importance has not diminished. For example, Colobium Sindonis is important for coronation ceremonies. The white tunic, symbolizing “holiness before God,” will be used at the most sacred part of the coronation – the anointing.

Colobium Sindonis was to be covered by a full-length gold-embroidered Supertunica, over which the Royal and Royal Mantles of Thieves would be placed. After the coronation ceremony, Charles will wear the Robe of State when entering Westminster Abbey.
These royal remains weren’t the only relics making a big appearance at the 74-year-old’s coronation as Pope Francis also added a holy touch to the upcoming event. The Ruler of the Vatican City State blessed the King with holy gifts in honor of his ascension.
The head of the Catholic Church reportedly gave two pieces of wood removed from the “true cross.” This term was used to describe the original cross Jesus was crucified on in the last century.
This most sacred gift was described as the “personal coronation gift” of the Bishop of Rome to the King, and the fragment was added to the center of the Welsh Cross. This sacred object was to be used to lead the coronation procession at Westminster Abbey in London.

The “All Night Long” artist claims the concert will be an amazing experience, promising his performance will beat other music legends. In the words of the Oscar winner:
“I want to see the pomp and circumstance because I don’t care what you think Michael Jackson did. I don’t care what you think Prince did. I don’t care what you think Madonna did. Nothing will ever be like this. This is great glory here.”
