The wealthy Hollywood lawyer, who made a fortune at the expense of TV’s “South Park” creator, is in the hot seat over red flags involving Hunter’s earnings, which is the focus of an impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

The lawyer testified that he himself did not violate any federal campaign finance laws by financing Hunter’s tax debt and living expenses.
Morris claimed to congressional investigators that he was thinking about President Donald Trump’s first impeachment when he wrote in an early 2020 email that he wanted to quickly settle Hunter’s tax debt for political reasons — even though Trump’s Senate trial had already ended.
The lawyer added he was “confident that Hunter will repay” the loan – although it was unclear how the president’s son would do so. Hunter faces felony charges of tax fraud in Los Angeles and illegal possession of a firearm in Delaware after getting out in July of a probation-only plea deal.

Morris acknowledged that it was “basically” true he loaned Hunter $4.9 million from 2020 to 2022, starting about a month after he first met the president’s son at a late 2019 fundraiser for his father’s presidential campaign.
Republicans leading the impeachment inquiry believe Hunter’s total debt to Morris could exceed $7 million.
Morris is also a major buyer of Hunter’s novice artwork – paying $875,000 for 11 paintings last year – and testified that he has shelled out money to his first child’s ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, and Lunden Roberts, a former adult entertainer with whom Hunter also shares a daughter.
The wealthy lawyer also confirmed that he visited the White House three times and took over Hunter’s 10% stake in a Chinese government-backed investment fund, which was registered in 2013 shortly after Joe and Hunter Biden visited Beijing, where the veep met. with the future CEO of the fund.
