Ice Cube has finally responded to Katt Williams’ shocking comments about his movie, “Friday After Next,” and he has a lot of explaining to do.
The entertainment industry was turned upside down after Williams spilled the tea on a number of celebrities such as Ice Cube, claiming he refused to film a rape scene in the final film. However, the producer of the comedy film said his creative process was never intended to use sexual abuse as a joke.
Ice Cube Says Showrunners Won’t Trade ‘Friday After Next’ For ‘Any Cast’
Williams’ comments about the 2002 stoner comedy hit sparked a lengthy rebuttal from Ice Cube. The multi-hyphenate star addressed the allegations in just over nine minutes videosassured fans that he would not rape in his film.
The 54-year-old, who is credited as a producer, screenwriter and actor on “Friday After Next,” stated that he has “a lot of love for Katt” but wanted to clarify the problem with his statement.
Ice Cube agreed that Williams changed part of his character’s script; however, this is only because film producers allow actors to “enhance” their performances. However, the script prioritizes the thoughts of the actors, and changes will be made according to the wishes of the producers.

“Once we got what we wanted with the script, we let the comedians ad-lib, riff, you know, play with words, and do their thing. We gave them two, three takes where they could go and do what that they feel,” he explained, adding that if the alleged rape scene was necessary for the film, it would be added. In his words:
“At that point in everybody’s career, we’ll listen to some degree, but we won’t trade the film for it. For any actor, you know? We do what we feel, and if it’s a rape scene, it will be in the movie. There’s no reason not to shoot him. But that’s not my style.”
The film’s producer insisted that he was not fond of filming sexual assault scenes, denying Williams’ claims that rape was included in the script as funny. “I would never shoot a rape scene in a movie, especially on a Friday, where you actually see this happening on camera. That’s not my style,” Ice Cube reiterated, adding:
“Tang jokes are always in the script. We will never show it. That’s not my style if you see any of my movies. So, that was never a discussion.”
Ice Cube’s lengthy response to X drew mixed reactions from fans, with many supporting Williams. A user write, “Lmao, so basically, Katt Williams is still not lying to us? Okay.” Another one sounded, “Loooookkkkk…..b/c none of these people have denied what Katt has said so far. They are talking about this issue.”
Third supporter written, “With all due respect to Ice Cube, Katt Williams never said the rape scene would be on camera, he just said the character was raped, and he doesn’t think rape should be part of comedy. This response from Cube pretty much confirms what Katt said.”

Williams stirred the pot on his latest appearance on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast, where he opened up about a scene he had removed from “Friday After Next.” Although the 2002 film marked his first role, the comedian claims he risked his film debut to avoid filming a sexual assault scene. In him words:
“The problem with Friday After Next is that we’re trying to do a classic comedy, and this comedy involves rape, and rape is never funny, no matter who it happens to or what the circumstances are.”
Williams stated that he “had to take a risk in front of the studio and the actors and the powers that be in his first film, and said, ‘Respectfully, humbly, guys, if we’re talking about anything else, I have no credibility, and I no attraction.’”
“‘But we’re talking about a comedy where I have all the credibility and all the appeal,'” he recalled, insisting that he assured producers the film would be successful without the rape scenes. He said:
“‘If you let me let us make this movie without a black man being raped in it, I promise you it will be twice as funny as him being raped.'”
Williams appeared in “Friday After Next” as Money Mike. The film serves as the third installment in the “Friday” franchise and follows Craig Jones (played by Ice Cube) and Chris Tucker’s character Smokey as they try to pay off their debt to a drug dealer.
