Israeli soldiers foiled a “Hamas ambush” that used children’s dolls and backpacks equipped with speakers that play the sound of cries to lure them into a terrorist tunnel in the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces said on Friday.
Footage released by the IDF shows the alley where the ambush will take place.
“Here in every corner are … explosives,” an IDF soldier explained in an official video.
The team later found children’s dolls and backpacks with speakers to mimic cries and songs, the footage shows.
“The goal is to attract us to look, see these things … they play a voice in Hebrew so we will think there are hostages and missing people here. To lure us into an area rigged with explosives,” explained the soldier, gesturing at the pile of disturbing objects.
“There are ammunition and weapons here, explosives hidden in UNRWA bags,” he added, referring to the UN agency tasked with helping Palestinian refugees.

UNRWA did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment on Hamas’ claims of using the agency’s materials to hide weapons.
The improvised children’s objects and explosives were all deliberately placed near tunnels linked to the notorious Hamas underground network, the IDF statement said.
“This network extends under other nearby public structures, including schools and medical clinics.
“It is also connected to a mosque that contains a Hamas command center equipped with cameras that monitor IDF troops,” the military wrote.

“Hamas anti-tank and intelligence positions are also located in the area, along with an extensive network of explosives aimed at targeting IDF troops,” the statement said.
Footage of the ambush was released the same day the IDF shared graphic footage of Hamas terrorists being killed in a tunnel in northern Gaza.
The war between Israel and Hamas has been raging for more than two months, since Hamas killed about 1,200 Israeli civilians and took hundreds hostage on Oct. 7.
