Good news: Shania Twain is still going, girl!
2022 is a breakthrough year for “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” singer and it looks like 2023 will be a year of empowerment for Twain. Hot on the heels of the 25th anniversary of her career-defining LP, “Come On Over,” Twain continues to move forward with her new record, “Queen Of Me!”
Her sixth album drops today, and Twain celebrated the occasion by commemorating the LP’s release with an Instagram post where she delved a little into the inspo for the record!
Twain Was More Than ‘Just a Girl’: How The Country Music Trailblazer Took Over
Twain not only reminded herself that she was ‘still one’ through the songs of “Queen Of Me,” but she also took back her power by opening up and publicly sharing some of the insights behind the catalyst for the album’s theme.
Last month, The Blast explored the vulnerable reasons behind Twain’s drive to control her feelings. While promoting “Queen Of Me,” Twain revealed why she chose to pose nude on the cover of the record on the “Today Show.”
“It’s really about saying I was abused as a child,” she shared. “My stepfather would adore me on the top and make me go shirtless and I was mature. A terrible horror wanted to escape from my own skin,” he continued in conversation with Hota Kotb.
Twain publicly revealed her stepfather’s actions for the first time in 2018.
“It’s time to start loving myself and really embrace it and not be ashamed or embarrassed about it,” Twain continued. “Here I am now.”
Twain’s TODAY interview isn’t the first time he’s reflected on the recent incident; he even talked about it in an interview with The Sunday Times.
“I hid myself and I would flatten my breasts,” she recalled the psychological impact of her stepfather’s actions. “I’ll wear a bra that’s too small for me, and I’ll wear two, play it up so there’s nothing ‘girly’ about me. Make it easier to go unnoticed.
Twain continued, “My goodness, it’s too bad – you don’t want to be a girl in my house.” (per The Blast)
The ‘Queen’ ‘Feels Good’ About Herself!
“The Queen Of Me” was inspired by feeling the inner sunshine within us- a feeling that Twain has known of late!
In the caption of her Instagram post celebrating the release of “The Queen Of Me,” Twain wrote, “I’m so excited to announce that my new album, ‘Queen Of Me,’ is now yours! I wrote this album from a place of feeling good about myself me- i want music that makes me dance and lift my spirits! I think the fact that I recorded this album with so many kind and talented people just makes it stronger! I hope it brings you joy and empowers you to feel good in your skin myself! Love Shania x”
Twain embarks on a multi-date tour in celebration of her empowering new record! According to his official website, the tour will kick off on April 15 in Fort Lauderdale, FL, with a performance at the Tortuga Music Festival. The tour will run through November, closing with a date in Vancouver on November 14th!
