It was an “experience” for the record books.
A British man created a Christmas tree maze built from 800 recycled trees and it may set a new world record for the largest display of illuminated Christmas trees.
Bino Rodrigues built the “Jersey Christmas Tree Experience” at Howard Davis Park in Jersey, an island in the English Channel off the northwest coast of France from salvaged trees deemed unsaleable.
When he found out he was beating the world record, he added more trees to the display.
“We’ve been planning this for months and one night me and my team were stuck inside and one of the production team said, ‘You know you’re close to a world record,'” he told the BBC.
“What we did was call a few businesses that import Christmas trees and just say, ‘Whatever stock you have left, we’ll take,’ so it just adds a little bit more to what we already have.”
Rodrigues is awaiting confirmation from Guinness World Records that he earned the title.

The current world record for the largest lighted Christmas tree display is 797, set in 2019 in Shelton, Wash.
To create the maze, Rodrigues sourced trees that were deemed unfit for sale and would be chopped from farms in England.
“The public of Jersey will help us support saving these trees, everyone feels good about doing something for the trees,” he said.
