In their own words: 5 City Council members who blame Israel are up for election Tuesday

Nearly every member of the New York City Council will be on the ballot this month — including several leftists who have blamed Israel for Hamas terror attacks and made other hateful comments about the Jewish state.

Leading the anti-Israel invective are five progressives — including three card-carrying members of the Democratic Socialists of America.

All face token Republican opposition, or none at all, and are expected to cruise to re-election on Nov. 7.

Before Israeli blood ran dry, members like Tiffany Caban, a Queens socialist, called for a cease-fire.

Shahana Hanif, a Brooklyn socialist, blames Israel for their own deaths.

When they weren’t spewing hate, some members were arrested at anti-Israel marches where many chanted things like “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” — widely understood as a call for the genocide of Jews — and held pro- a jihadi sign reads “No, I do not condemn Hamas.”

Other left-wing councilors refused to support statements condemning antisemitism.

Councilwoman Joann Ariola, a Queens Republican, said she was disappointed but not surprised by her colleague’s behavior.

“We have been patient with their double standards and hypocrisy for two years,” he said. “Are we going to relive Kristallnacht? We have to end hate, and it has to start with the councillors.”
