A nine-month-old boy will grow up without his parents after an alleged drunk driver crashed into their car at high speed — killing them both months before their wedding.
Jacob Hahn, 24, and Savannah Harding, 22, were killed while driving westbound on Fremont Pike in Ohio on the night of Dec. 9 after an allegedly drunk driver, Samantha Hammons, rear-ended their vehicle, causing it to spin into oncoming traffic. , according to WTVG.
The force of the impact from the Kia Soul driven by Hammon who was speeding caused the couple’s car to crash into an eastbound Dodge Journey.
Hahn and Harding were pronounced dead at the scene, leaving behind their son, Beckett.
The Elmore couple are engaged next June.
Hammons, 55, of Toledo, was charged with two counts of aggravated vehicular homicide and was booked into the Wood County Jail, documents from Perrysburg Municipal Court show.

The reckless driver’s two adult daughters were in the back seat of their mother’s Kia when he caused the fatal crash, police said.
Hammons, along with her daughter, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Journey was also taken for minor injuries but later released.
Hammons was under the influence of alcohol before getting behind the wheel, according to court documents.

“My heart hurts so much now that you’re gone,” Harding’s sister, Brooklyn, wrote in a somber Facebook post, referring to the couple as “the sweetest souls.”
“Life is very unfair. All because the driver was drunk. Took my only sister/sister away from me.”
“You were one of my biggest role models growing up. You made me aunt for the first time to little Beckett. I will always be there for him. We’re all going to do it,” shared Brooklyn.
Brooklyn vowed to honor his sister’s memory and will “fight” for justice following the couple’s senseless death.

Brooke Johnson, Hahn’s cousin, wrote she was “sad, but mostly angry” after news broke that her loved ones and her fiancé were killed by a reckless drunk behind the wheel.
“Outraged that an irresponsible and reckless woman took the lives of two very young people who were literally just starting their lives,” Johnson wrote in a Facebook post.
“My heart really breaks for sweet Beckett, because she will never know how amazing her parents are, and how much they love her!”

In his heartfelt post, Johnson shared how excited Hahn is to become a father.
“The best call I ever got from him was when he came face to face with me to tell me he was going to be a DADDY! He turned the camera to the sign that said they were expecting, and I yelled “Shut up!” And he just laughed, but I could tell he was scared to death, but very happy!”
In the wake of the tragedy, businesses and community groups in Elmore have organized fundraising events to support the orphaned baby and family.
“None of us can take away the pain, but we can help ease the burden left behind,” Jes Reynolds, owner of Unvaulted Treasures, one of the participating businesses, told WTOL 11.

Reynolds’ store has collected donations, including clothes, blankets, diapers and other items for Backett.
DeSTAZio’s, a pizzeria in Elmore, donated 100% of their profits to the cause on Wednesday, sharing that they sold out of their products for sale before the day was over.
“We’ve actually had some people come in and just make a donation and not even buy a pizza. Everybody just wants to support this family,” co-owner Connie DeStazio told the outlet.

Elmore is located about 18 miles northwest of Toledo.
A judge set Hammons’ bond at $500,000.
Hammons’ charge is a second-degree felony in Ohio and carries a mandatory prison sentence of two to eight years, along with a lifetime license suspension if he is convicted.
