Inside Mama June’s Daughter’s Dying Wish & Final Moments

Mama June’s daughter, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, spent her final moments surrounded by love, her husband, Eldridge Toney, claimed.

Toney revealed during a recent interview that his late wife’s wishes revolved around their two daughters – Kaitlyn Elizabeth and Kylee Madison.

The reality television star was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma in her lung, kidney and liver in January and passed away on Saturday, December 9.

A week after Mama June’s eldest daughter Shannon died in her sleep, her husband opened up about his dying wish.

“The day before he passed, we talked and said goodbye. His dying wish was for his daughters to grow up knowing who their mother was,” Toney recalled. ” And I promise I will do right by those girls always. I will spend my life doing right by Anna and those girls.”

Although Toney was the one who found out about Cardwell’s intentions, the couple were not alone at the time. According to the doting husband, who secretly walked down the aisle with the mother-of-two in March, they were surrounded by family as it was Kylee’s eighth birthday.

She was surrounded by her sisters — Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, and Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird — along with her mother. Looking back on that period, Toney told PEOPLE Magazine:

“Everyone is crying and scared because we all know what happened. I did my best to stay calm for him. I ran my hand through his hair, held his hand, and told him it was going to be okay. I held his hand as he breathed his last.”

As for their secret wedding, marriage records reveal that Cardwell and Toney held their ceremony on March 4 in Wilkinson County, Georgia. The late housewife allegedly turned down the ceremony when she learned of her cancer diagnosis.

During that period, she emphasized her desire to walk down the aisle while feeling strong enough for the wedding ceremony. Cardwell and Toney finally realized that dream the month he reportedly started chemotherapy.

Insiders claim that the couple’s nuptials had close family members in attendance, with camera crews documenting the event for her family’s WE TV reality show, “Mama June: From Not to Hot.”

It is important to mention that the heartbreaking news of Cardwell’s passing was confirmed on social media by his mother. While expressing her family’s deep sadness at the passing of the 29-year-old, Mama June wrote on Instagram:

“With broken hearts, we announce that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. He passed away at my house last night peacefully at 11:12pm. He gave an hour— a 10 month fight he died with his family around him as if he wasn’t going to make it and we will update you all with more information as we get it today. We love you all and continue to pray and think for our family [during] these difficult times.”

Mama June Has Taken Custody of One of Cardwell’s Children

The source also revealed that Mama June and Kaitlyn share a strong bond, with the 11-year-old being her first grandchild. The move was also supported by the family, who collectively agreed that having the preteen at his grandmother’s house was the most appropriate arrangement.

Before the revelation, Mama June informed the public that the family was making arrangements for them to pay their last respects to Cardwell at Williams White-Columns Funeral Home in Gordon, Georgia, on Wednesday, December 13.

“I know I look a mess, but my mind is very emotional and mental – right now,” the 44-year-old began in a video uploaded to social media.

He continued, “It’s very quiet in here, the machines aren’t working. He wasn’t sitting here watching a cooking show and it was very quiet. The chair that he was sitting in, you know, nobody’s sitting in it now because it had a blanket and a pillow that he used, and that’s where he died.”

After admitting that she doesn’t know “how to describe the pain” of losing her daughter, the “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” alum highlighted Cardwell’s desire for fans to be a part of the grieving process.

“Anna wouldn’t have it any other way, any other way, but for me to tell you,” he added. “So, the fans, can say goodbye to him, we decided as a family because he wanted us to go live on TikTok, on social media, but we didn’t.”
