Iran has claimed responsibility for the missile attack exploded near the US consulate in the semi-autonomous Kurdish region of Iraq Monday.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said they were targeting “spy headquarters and gatherings of anti-Iranian terrorist groups” near Erbil, Kurdistan’s capital and most populous city.

Four civilians were killed and six others wounded in the attack, the security council of the Kurdish regional government said.

No US facilities were hit or damaged, a US official told the Associated Press.
