Is Cecily Strong Still A Cast Member on ‘SNL?’

With so many recent cast changes on “Saturday Night Live” fans may be wondering if they missed something after watching the season 48 premiere and not seeing veteran cast member Cecily Strong in the opening credits. No need to fear, he’s still on the show.

Concerns that she may have left the show come after a total of eight actors – Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, Kyle Mooney, Aidy Bryant, Chris Redd, Alex Moffat, Melissa Villasenor and Aristotle Athari – left after season 47 ended. Last year’s cast turnover was the biggest since 1995 when almost the entire cast was new.

Strong Will Return To The Show In Late October

The reason the comedian, 38, wasn’t part of the skit comedy show’s season premiere is because she’s currently in a one-woman play, “The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe” at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. The show, where one of the show’s producers is “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels, ends Oct. 23 and Strong will then return to the east coast and to Studio 8H. The stage production of the show was written by Jane Wagner and performed by his now wife, Lily Tomlin in 1985. In a recent Instagram post, Strong talked about his opening night and the special guests in attendance.

Kuat Posted On IG About Opening Night Of The Play

Strong captioned the post, “WHOAH HO MAMMA MIA. I still tear up today when I think about last night. Opening my favorite show with my favorite people @silverleigh @billdamaschke. I found out our “original Trudy” was going to be on the show that afternoon and cried all day up to and including the moment when I bowed down where I got to know her.”

The caption continued with, “I’m so grateful that Jane and Lily have shared this show with me and we and it will never feel normal. In the best way. I’m dealing with some major infinitives. Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe at Mark Taper until October 23rd!!! Come see and enjoy the joy with us!!! @ctgla ***wow what a nice almost Freudian slip here where I first wrote “Look for Signs of EXTRAORDINARY Life in the Universe”***”
