Israeli father says Hamas tried to sell his son’s decapitated head for $10,000

The father of a fallen Israeli soldier claimed that after his 19-year-old son was killed, Hamas terrorists tried to sell his severed head for $10,000 in Gaza.

David Tahar, father of former Israel Defense Forces Sgt. Adir Tahar, said Hamas abused his son’s body after he was killed during a surprise terrorist attack on October 7.

“Terrorists, barbarians, they say too little, they cut off his head and took it to Gaza,” David told local Channel 14, according to i24 News.

“I did everything I could, it was not easy, in the end, I got a body without a head,” he said, adding that the defense team did not want him to see the body of his butchered son, but he insisted.

The grieving father said that after his son’s body arrived at Mount Herzl, the Israeli national cemetery, he opened the coffin to see for himself what happened.

“He is unrecognizable. I identified him through dog tags and DNA testing and what was in his pants,” said David.

For the next two months, David worked non-stop trying to figure out what had happened to his son’s head.

To his horror, he finally found a video posted to Telegram that gave him the answer.

“The Internet is flooded with horror videos. I must say that I saw almost everything, unfortunately, I found a video of my son, where you can see that my son is without this important part,” he said.

Later, David received official news that Hamas had tried to sell his son’s head, advertising it as a soldier’s head for $10,000, he told the station.

“It’s very barbaric,” he said.

Adir’s head was later found in a freezer in Gaza, hidden in a duffel bag with a tennis ball and some documents, his father said.

“[There were] documents of several terrorists and warlords. They managed to bring what was left after two and a half months, may be misused there as well,” he said.

“We recovered the bones, what they found, tested the DNA, also found the teeth, and buried them,” he said, before adding, “It was a clear miracle in my eyes that I was able to give him peace of mind and body. What we tried to do at this time is to hold a memorial for Adir.”
