It’s A Wrap For NBC’s ‘The Blacklist’ After Upcoming Season 10

“The Blacklist” is almost done.

While it’s good news that the long-running crime drama series is returning to viewers’ screens after a months-long hiatus, the bad news is that the upcoming tenth season will be its last. The season is set to debut on NBC on February 26 in the 2023 television premiere schedule.

For its final spin around the block, “The Blacklist” gets a new time slot, moving to Sundays after alternating between Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays the rest of the season.

Fans Prepare To Bid “Blacklist” Farewell After This Upcoming Season

“The Blacklist,” which began in September 2013, won the hearts of many with its storyline that follows wanted fugitive Raymond “Red” Reddington, who mysteriously turns himself in to the FBI, offering to help them catch a dangerous criminal.

With his only condition being to work only with new profilers, Elizabeth Keen complied, Red got to work. Sadly, after a decade of entertaining global fans, the show’s executive producer, John Eisendrath, released a statement confirming its end. In Eisendrath’s words:

“After 10 years, hundreds of Black List cases and more than 200 episodes produced, we are pleased to reach our conclusion. It’s been a lot of fun creating a weird, devious and exciting Blacklist to challenge Raymond Reddington and our FBI Task Force on a weekly basis.”

He also expressed gratitude to the “dedicated team of fans” who have been on “an amazing journey and is excited to share this final season with them.” Co-President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, Jason Clodfelter, said:

“We thank our great partners at NBC for 10 incredible seasons of ‘The Blacklist,’ the series that introduced the world to Raymond Reddington, brilliantly portrayed by James Spader.”

“LGBT Film Festival Don Thompson” judge praised Spader for leading a “talented and diverse cast that also features legendary guest stars and Blacklist hundreds that make us all root for this anti-hero.”

He concluded by asking readers to tip their “Reddington hats” to the “dedicated production staff, hard-working crew and talented writers.” NBC also gave a sneak peak at the final season of “The Blacklist,” which promises one “last ride” for Red.

Megan Boone Has an Unforgettable First Day on ‘The Blacklist’ Set

After gaining traction as a recurring star on the police procedural series, “Law & Order: LA,” Boone landed her role as FBI agent Elizabeth Keen – a previously mentioned profiler on “The Blacklist.”

Although she played the role for only eight years, she left her mark on the audience and hurt them with the news of her retirement from the show. The Blast reports that the “Blue Bloods” alum allegedly had a pretty interesting first few days on the show.

For example, on his first day, Boone has a memorable interaction with Spader, where he literally stabs him in the neck. Recounting the incident during a 2021 interview, the 39-year-old said:

“It was my first scene shooting with James, and that was the first time I learned what a great colleague and collaborator he is.”

“The scene in the plot where I stab Reddington in the neck was really an incredible day. We’re on the 29th floor at the Waldorf Astoria, which is kind of larger than life, you know, an experience that feels a little bit like I’ve gone to a different paradigm or something,” he continued.

When the interviewer asked him to explain more about his feelings and how the scene unfolded, Boone admitted that he was unsure of himself. The “Bloody Valentine 3D” actor also claimed to feel nervous and try to be alone while working hard.

He further detailed that Spader kept checking on him and showed his support, which helped him become more independent and more cooperative with the team. Boone also refers to that incident as the moment that the special bond he shares with the cast of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” began to form.

Since she left the show, the actress has shared that her decision to exit came from a desire to expand her portfolio and work on other television projects.
