Ivanka Trump’s Hopes Crushed By NY Judge Of Avoiding Daddy’s Trial

It looks like Ivanka Trump’s best efforts to avoid testifying in her father’s trial have been in vain!

The socialite is now scheduled to testify against her father, Donald Trump, the former president of the United States. A $250 million civil fraud trial against him, his eldest son, their company, and Trump Organization executives opened on October 2, 2023, in Manhattan and he attended.

Ivanka Trump’s Relocation Can’t Stop Her Testimony

A New York judge handed down the shocking ruling despite his lawyers arguing that he should not testify because he had moved from New York and now lives in Florida. Ivanka’s lawyer stated that she left the Trump Organization in 2017 to work for her father in the White House and never returned to the family business.

The celebrity attorney has filed a motion to throw out a subpoena for her testimony in General Letitia James’ lawsuit against Donald Trump and other parties involved.

Judge Arthur Engoron pointed out that important documents show that Ivanka is linked to several businesses owned by her father in New York and has an apartment in Manhattan. However, his testimony will be held on any date after November 1 to give his lawyers enough time to appeal the order.

The lawsuit reportedly accuses the former president of exaggerating his wealth over the years on financial statements provided to banks, insurance companies, and other financial bodies to help him secure loans and deals.

The suit now seeks $250 million in penalties and an eventual ban on Trump’s license to do business in New York. Engoron also rejected a request for Ivanka to give a deposition in Florida instead of appearing in New York to testify.

Ivanka held a former executive position at the Trump Organization and was previously dismissed as a defendant from the case in June following an appeals court ruling that the claims against her were outside the statute of limitations.

However, the New York Attorney General in charge of the case issued subpoenas to several corporations linked to Ivanka in an effort to get her back on the witness stand. Moskowitz quickly responded to the action, arguing that Ivanka had been treated unfairly, adding:

“Each of these three subpoenas lists Ms. Trump’s name only on the ‘to’ line above the LLC name and the name and address of their registered agent. The Subpoena requested a ‘personal appearance’ ‘to give evidence’ during the hearing but did not identify any specific employees, officers or directors that the NYAG wanted to appear.”

His 41 years at the Trump Organization saw him successfully negotiate multi-million dollar deals for the Old Post Office hotel project, the Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago and the Trump National Doral golf course in Miami.

As reported by The Blast, Eric Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Donald Trump himself will testify in the case filed against the organization in November 2022.

The ongoing case has been filled with a series of dramas, including Trump walking out of the courtroom during the hearing on Wednesday, October 25.

Shortly before the dramatic incident, Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, and his latest enemy, was questioned about whether Trump or Allen Weisselberg ordered him to provide the fake number, to which Cohen replied that he did not “remember”.

Cliff Robert, a lawyer on Trump’s team, later asked for a directed verdict, arguing that key witnesses testified that Trump had left no such directive. Robert’s request was rejected by the judge, which angered Trump, and led him out of the courthouse, prompting the Secret Service to chase him.

Outside court, Trump told an interviewer that the witness conceded his team won the trial and the judge should end the trial. He further accused the judge of “taking sides with very partisan people sitting next to him, maybe even more partisan than him.”

As he returned to the courtroom, Trump was asked about remarks he made to the press about the judge “taking sides.” The 77-year-old clarified that he was referring to Cohen and not Engoron’s law clerk, whom Trump had previously criticized and even fined.

According to The Blast, Trump’s explanation did not convince Judge Engoron, so he fined him $10,000 to be paid within 30 days for violating the gag order.
