While discussing “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” Jack Black said he wasn’t sure if there would be a sequel or if Bowser would be involved, but regardless, he had some ideas for what could happen.

“It’s not a condition that Bowser will come back,” said Jack Black Playground. “You know, I’ve done several Kung Fu Panda movies, and it’s a different villain in each one. They might do the same.”

Black continued, “What if a stronger, more evil villain exists? Then I might have to turn around to help Mario and the others defend our universe from some unseen evil force. Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.”

Jack Black recently appeared alongside Pascal in Disney+’s “The Mandalorian.”

“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was an instant success and starred Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Charles Martinet as Mario’s Dad, Khary Payton as King Penguin and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong.

follow Deadline, “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” was a huge success at the box office for a 3-day weekend total of $146.36M. The animated film technically opened in theaters on Wednesday, April 5, bringing the film’s record-breaking 5-day total to $204.6 million.

Chris Pratt spoke about the film ahead of its release, admitting he changed his Italian accent for Mario in the film at the director’s request.” For a minute, I walk in, and they’re like, ‘That’s a little New Jersey. You’re doing the Tony Soprano thing,'” he said on Entertainment Weekly’s Around the Table segment.

Pratt isn’t the only one having trouble nailing the accent as Charlie Day, who voices Luigi, admits he struggles too. “We tried different things, different voices,” Day said. “Every once in a while they’ll say, ‘Charlie, maybe less ‘Goodfellas’ in this one’ — I’m like, ‘Okay! I think you’re wrong but that’s okay!’ — until they land on something they love.”

“It’s an exciting and scary challenge,” Pratt said. “Talking to these guys, they said, ‘You want to make a Mario movie?’ I think we both said yes. Not asking, ‘What’s the deal? What’s the story?’ ‘Yes, I’m in.’”

“And then we have to dig in and think, Are they Italian? Are they Americans? We know so little about Charles Martinet’s voice that he sprinkles in there with ‘Wahoo!’ and ‘It-me!’ and these Mario things, but how do you create a 90-minute narrative with emotional lines and create living, breathing people who you’re going to care about?” Pratt continued.
