Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair is growing back after years of struggling with alopecia, a condition she’s always been open about.
In one of her latest social media posts, she proudly showed off her hair growth, showing off her bold new look while preparing fans for her upcoming memoir, “Worthy.”
The autobiography will be released this fall along with a series of memoirs from celebrity friends, including Britney Spears, whose book Smith is looking forward to reading.
Jada Pinkett Smith’s Full Hair Is Highlights In Video About Upcoming Memoir
On Instagram, the “Matrix” actor photographed himself with a full head of platinum gray hair, expertly styled in waves, a stark contrast to his previously bald head. She also wore a velvet zip-up pullover with the sun reflecting off her as she greeted her millions of followers and announced the release of her memoir “Worthy” on October 17.
“So I was like, I want to start sharing some of the process with you that went into writing this book,” Smith shared further. “Not only is it emotionally engaging, but it’s really technical.”
He explained that it was “technical” to write any book before reiterating his intention to reveal “some of the process” he went through with his “magnificent” editor, Carrie Thornton, and his co-author Mim.
The 51-year-old movie star delivered more great news to her fans as she expressed interest in seeing other celebrity books come out this fall, including Spears.’ In his words:
“And yesterday, I found out I’m on the Times Most Anticipated Books for the fall with Carrie Washington, whose book I can’t wait to read, as well as Barbra Streisand and Britney Spears.”
He then concluded, “I will read all those books. So, we have some great reads this fall, everyone, so stay tuned. I will start sharing all this content from my chapter and the process.”

This isn’t the first time the “Set It Off” actress will publicly show off her hair growth as she did earlier this month via Instagram, using images from “past” and “now.” The previous version featured a bald Smith smiling at the camera, rocking a diamond necklace and white jacket, while the current one emphasizes his growing, platinum blonde hair.
Captioning it, she declared, “The hair here is acting like it’s trying to come back. Still have some issues, but — we’ll see.” Struggling with alopecia never stopped the “Scream 2” star from being authentic about it on and off social media.
The condition, which is the medical term for baldness, causes hair loss and bald spots on the scalp. It also has no cure or long-term treatment. Still, Smith’s hair growth is a sign of hope that, despite the controversy — her husband slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars — it’s created.
‘Red Table Talk’ Co-Host Explains Narrative Behind Her Upcoming Memoir
A few months before announcing the release of her upcoming memoir, Smith had an exclusive interview with PEOPLE in which she discussed the book and her book tour. He explained that writing the book was a way for people to learn more about his journey and clear up false assumptions and narratives about him.
The “Girls Trip” actress elaborated, “Yeah. I think people have made a lot of assumptions. And you know what? Rightfully so.”

“I have to take ownership of the narrative I’m in, the falseness of who I am,” he added. “In the book, I really describe all of that extensively as part of my recovery journey.”
Smith also revealed why she chose the book’s title, saying everyone’s journey, including hers, is worthy, and she “wanted to write about my journey to self-esteem in a real way.”
