Jada Pinkett Smith has opened up about the regrettable last words she said to her “soulmate” Tupac Shakur.
As it turns out, they weren’t on speaking terms at the time of his death, and Jada has now been reflecting on the “disgusting kiss” they shared all those years ago.

Jada and Tupac’s relationship has been an ongoing topic of discussion for decades and was recently revisited as the actress promoted her newly released memoir, “Worthy.”

That sentiment was revisited when “Red Table Talk” co-host stopped by Steven Bartlett’s “The Diary Of A CEO” podcast. During their interaction, she was moved when shown a picture of herself, Tupac, and their friend Maxine, who tragically died by suicide at the same time as the “Hit ‘Em Up” hitmaker.
Jada and Tupac’s deep relationship started when they met at school, and according to her, they feel like they’ve known each other for years. Although their relationship is close, they have never had a physical relationship, a fact that baffles them and their loved ones.
Starting with a flashback to when they tried to lock lips, the mother of two said, “Pac and I have a hard time understanding why we don’t have it and I [remember] was on my back porch and we were having this discussion, I was like ‘okay, Pac just kiss me.’ And he kissed me and it was the most disgusting kiss between the two of us! I mean he backed off and I backed off and I was like ‘see dummy!’”
He later revealed that they had maintained “this beautiful closeness that was really intimate but never physically intimate” throughout their relationship.
Although they did not pursue a physical relationship, Tupac’s bond with the Daytime Emmy Award winner was so strong that he proposed to her while serving time at Rikers Island after being convicted of sexual assault by mail. Jada, however, rejected his proposal but remained a part of his life until they had a major fight following the “Change” rapper’s release from prison.
The 100% Women Productions founder detailed, “It’s one of the biggest fights we’ve ever had, and it’s about how she lives, you know.”
He explained that he needed to clarify his stance on Tupac heading in an unacceptable direction. Although his opinion led to a major, “kind of clash beyond the both of us,” Jada decided that she “didn’t call him this time” because he had gone too far.
“I let my pride, I let my ego come in. I really took it for granted that he would live forever, he’s been through a lot. I see Pac as undefeated at this point. That was the last time I talked to him and you know what’s crazy, it meant absolutely nothing,” the “All of Us” co-creator passionately shared while holding back tears.

In less than a year, Tupac was shot and tragically killed at the young age of 25. The case remained unsolved for more than a quarter of a century until Las Vegas investigators announced the arrest of Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis.

Following the 60-year-old’s arrest, Jada used her Instagram Story to express her hope for “closure, via a simple message that read, “Now I hope we can get some answers and have some closure. RIP Pac,” along with a white dove emoji.
Upon seeing the post, several people shared their own thoughts, with this person writing via X, “Can’t imagine my man saying RIP to his dead ex-girlfriend???? cause the boy went with her.”
“I know people joke about their relationship. But I know today might be very emotional for him,” a second person expressed, while a third chimed in, “I’m glad he’s calm and hopefully getting over it now.”
Yet another observer noted, “It must be crazy to see your friends die consistently on TV and online. Hope he is [gets] closure and [has] sad [I don’t] thought he ever had a chance.”
