So it’s not just the mind. And to see someone so strong fighting this disease – it’s hard. If anyone looks like a movie star, it’s Sean Connery. But towards the end, when he’s weak, it’s hard to watch. It’s hard to see.”

In the book, Lynch says, “Because she wasn’t feeling well at all, Micheline asked me to try and see more of her at the end. She didn’t want people she didn’t know hanging around, so I would stop by to visit. I sometimes- sometimes crying at the sight of this mountain of men – this monumental human achievement in such dire circumstances – weak (mentally and physically) unable to continue a conversation or finish a sentence.”
Lynch told Pilato that it was difficult and “very sad” for him to watch Connery become “weak and disabled” as his dementia progressed. He added, “We try to have a conversation. I try to tell him what’s going on in the world of sports, even knowing that he doesn’t really take it all in.”

Roquebrune shared with the publication that Connery had only one wish regarding his death: “to get away without any fuss.” She added, “At least he died in his sleep, and it was so peaceful. I was with him the whole time, and he just slipped away. That’s what he wanted.”

She wrote extensively about their marriage and strong relationship, saying that Connery had her full support and love until the end.
It read, “I think the relationship worked because he wasn’t an actor. He was dedicated to her. And their relationship was great for years, decades. He was there for her until the end. They went to the Bahamas, and they ended up spending the rest his life there. I think it’s hard for his wife, his son and the fans who love him. It’s hard to see anybody get sick and get weak.”
