Although there are “Angel Divers” who are meant to watch the actors dive and make sure they are safe, they don’t realize the failure soon. Cameron said of the divers, “They weren’t watching me.” The director of “Titanic” said that they were more than 30 feet below the surface, and that he was wearing heavier equipment than usual.

Cameron said, “For me to be able to move the camera on the bo, my bottom was wearing heavy weights around my legs, no fins, a heavy belt around my waist.” The director explained that the tank would normally give a “warning” if it ran out of air. However, he took his last breath, and there was nothing left in him, and when Cameron tried to get the attention of the other crew members, they couldn’t hear him.

Cameron recalled that he tried to contact his director friend, Al Giddings, but was unsuccessful. He explained that Giddings had previously been involved in a “diving accident” and was “post-deaf.” However, he found a way to swim to remove his equipment.

“Al had been involved in a diving accident, an accident and he blew both ea drums, so he was deaf as a pole, and I threw my last breath on the pa system in the water with ‘Al… Al…’ and he worked with his back to me,” the director reminded.

After almost reaching the top, some “Angel Divers” saw the director of “Avatar” but were still not sure what happened. They then tried to put a failed regulator in his mouth for support. Cameron explained, “The safety diver was about ten feet from the surface, and he put a regulator in my mouth that he didn’t check.”

Cameron added, he almost fainted when safety divers prevented him from reaching the surface during safety measures.

“At that point it’s almost a check out, and safety divers are taught to hold you down so you don’t have an embolism and let your lungs overinflate.”

Cameron became even more confused because he couldn’t explain what was happening in the river.

“But I know what I’m doing. And he wouldn’t let me go, and I had no way of telling him that the regulator wasn’t working.” The director then punched the diver in the face to free himself and swim to the surface.

Cameron added, “So I punched him in the face and swam to the surface and therefore survived.”
