“The only scenario I can think of in my mind that could explain it is an explosion,” the “Avatar” director told Cooper.
“A shock wave event that was so strong that it actually took out the secondary system that has its own pressure vessel and its own battery power supply, which is the transponder that the ship uses to track where the submarine is. So I thought about the explosion then. That was Monday morning,” Cameron said.

In a recent interview with ABC Newsthe famous filmmaker drew striking parallels between the real Titanic disaster and the mysterious disappearance of the Titan Submersible.

Cameron also explained that the deep sea diving community is “very concerned” about the ill-fated OceanGate and Titan Submersible expeditions.
“For an almost identical tragedy, where warnings were ignored, to happen at the same site as all the dives that happen around the world, I think it’s just shocking. It’s really quite surreal,” he added.
