The picture shows Curtis’ decorations, including an odd portrait of a naked child in a box filled with water. However, the focus of the post is the “beautiful Pollack chair” that sits around his office desk.

Curtis captioned the now-deleted post (ex NYP), “Okay. This is a weird post. But I have Covid, so shit. During one of the SAG nomination panels for @everythingeverywheremovie I told the story of how I ended up with my office furnished with my beautiful Pollack chair from the movie.”

Curtis’ photo quickly went viral on social media, and the response on Twitter was almost immediate. Politician Jack Lombardi II was one of many who criticized the “Halloween” actor, posting, “Hollyweird strikes again.” Right-wing activist and lawyer Rogan O’Handley also made a viral tweet calling out Curtis.

That tweet read, “…Jamie Lee Curtis posted a vaccine ad for Pfizer on Instagram. 3 days ago he posted a very disturbing picture in his house of a child stuffed in a suitcase. We have serious questions.” Another politician, Scott Stephenson, tweeted“What exactly.”

Thousands of tweets soon emerged debating the controversial photo and why Curtis chose to decorate his office with it. Conservative broadcaster Stew Peters compared the 63-year-old actor to pedophile Jeffery Epstein, who died in custody in 2019.

Epstein was a broker, financier and socialite involved in several child prostitution, pedophilia and sex trafficking. He is also known for having explicit art that shows children in a sexual nature. tweeted Peters read“Why does Jamie Lee Curtis have pictures of naked children stuffed in suitcases on her wall [?]. The controversial photo of the nude child has been revealed to be the work of photographer Betsy Schneider. follow NYP, Schneider primarily worked as an assistant to renowned photographer Sally Mann. He has yet to make any statement regarding the controversial portrait and attack on Curtis.

On Thursday afternoon, Curtis posted a statement of apology and offered more context into the controversial portrait. He wrote, “Last week, I posted a picture of some chairs that included a picture on the wall by an artist that was given to me 20 years ago. I understand it upset some people. Like I said, I’m a truth teller so here’s the truth. “

The “Everything Everywhere All at Once” actor continued, “It’s a picture of a child, taken by his mother, playing in their backyard in a tub of water. Nothing more, nothing less.” Curtis further explained that he deleted the post because he didn’t “want to keep something that upsets anybody.”

The actor said he only wanted to show his office space to his fans and the public in the interest of transparency. Curtis also explained that the post was meant to highlight the chair in a mid-century office set.
