The “Talk Dirty” singer has been accused of not paying her former manager, Frank Harris, wages. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, “Harris had served as Derulo’s manager for approximately 23 years” until one day, he didn’t.

He was responsible for “mentoring and advising Derulo, engineering his artistic style, career and brand, and enabling him to achieve global success.” The document goes as far as to say Harris essentially serves as the “CEO” of Derulo’s life.

“Harris advised Derulo on, and participated in, every aspect of Derulo’s career.” More specifically, “Harris, among other things, represents Derulo’s business interests, manages and protects his professional reputation, negotiates contracts on his behalf, schedules shows and tours, creates marketing and branding strategies, promotes Derulo’s music and assists in Derulo’s artistic development.”

The former manager also acts as a father figure to Derulo, helping him manage his money and financial fortune. He “provided Derulo with financial, legal and family guidance, helping Derulo navigate various personal and professional challenges.”

The legal document claims, “On or about September 24, 2022, Derulo and Harris agreed to separate.” Although he has officially stopped being Derulo’s manager, he claims that a verbal agreement in 2014 is being voided.

The oral agreement states:

“In or about January 2014, when the term of the 2009 Management Agreement expired, Derulo and Harris verbally agreed that Harris would continue to act as Derulo’s manager, performing the same services then performed, on the same terms and conditions at that time under the Agreement 2009 Management, including Derulo’s obligation to pay Harris a commission of 20 percent of any Gross Income received by Derulo during the parties’ professional relationship, and to continue to pay Harris, after the termination of the parties’ professional relationship, 15 percent of Derulo’s Gross Income derived from engagements, contracts and agreements entered into or negotiated while the parties’ professional relationship remains in effect (“2014 Oral Agreement”).”

Harris wants to know where the money is! Court documents allege:

“Derulo owes Harris about $1 million in revenue commissions.” Additionally, Harris wanted anything “Derulo received for engagements, agreements and contracts entered into while Harris acted as Derulo’s manager (“Unpaid Commissions”).”

Unfortunately, every few years, the “Jiggle Jiggle” singer seems to get involved in litigation. In Jan 2022, he was involved in an altercation in Las Vegas. He is accused of battery on two people at the Aria Resort and Casino.

In 2017, he was accused of vandalizing a limousine. He was sued $10,000 for that. He was 27 at the time so grace could be given, but fans were provoked when he was accused of stealing samples from Polynesian TikTok musicians.

He finally gave credit where it was due, but Derulo had to be reprimanded online for that to happen. However, it saved him from a lawsuit. When the artist Jawsh told Diversityhe was discussing signing the sample, but Derulo lost his temper and kept moving forward.

It’s hard to stay mad at Derulo because he went off and did something like leave a big tip for a waiter that ended up paying his tuition for the school year. He seems to have no problem giving money.
