Jayaram Subramaniam, popularly known as Jayaram, is an Indian actor who mostly works in the South Indian film industry. He has won various awards for his performances in various Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films.

Jayaram Subramaniam was born on Friday, 10 December 1965 (age 57 years; in 2022) in Perumbavoor, Kerala. Jayaram grew up in the town of Perumbavoor in Kerala. He studied at Government Boys High School in Perumbavoor. Later, Jayaram went to Sree Sankara College, Kalady, Kerala, and pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. According to sources, after graduating from college, Jayaram worked as a medical representative. As per reports, Jayaram is pursuing a graduate course in Chenda from Ulsavam National Institute of Science & Technology in Thrissur, Kerala.

Jayaram made his debut with Padmarajan’s mystery thriller ‘Aparan’ in 1988. He appeared as Vishwanathan (protagonist) and Uthaman (antagonist) in the film; Jayaram plays two roles.

- In an interview, it was revealed that Jayaram was very fond of animals since childhood, so much so that as a child, he used to collect pictures of elephants while his friends were busy collecting matchboxes and labels. Recalling childhood moments, Jayaram said,
As a child, when my classmates collected matchbox labels and stamps, I collected nearly 400 pictures of elephants including paper cuttings and black and white photographs.”
- According to some sources, Jayaram was once invited to the Thrissur temple as the chief guest where he was supposed to anoint an elephant named Padmanabhan as ‘Gajaraja.’ After seeing the elephant, Jayam identified it as his favorite elephant since childhood. According to Jayaram, he was informed a few years later that the elephant had died; however, his tusk was legally transferred to him, and Jayaram placed it in his guest room as a tribute.
