According to KSDK.com, he bravely fought prostate cancer for almost a year and a half but died on August 15, 2022. At the time of his death, he was 55 years old. The radio station where he worked released an official statement confirming his death on Facebook.
“We are very saddened to share that today we lost our friend and colleague, Jeff Burton. Everyone here at 105.7 The Point loves and admires Jeff for countless reasons…his kindness, his humor, his generosity…to name a few,” the post read. “The Rizzuto Show and our entire team will will pay tribute to Jeff in the coming months, but for now, we ask that you just remember Jeff’s family and remember the man who contributed so much to our station and our community.”

Before Jeff Burton’s death, Scott Rizzuto updated listeners on July 11 about Jeff’s health. He read aloud Jeff’s wife Juli Burton’s Facebook post where she had shared that the cancer had spread throughout her husband’s body. “He will not be stable enough to receive any additional treatment. We are really out of options,” he wrote.
Juli also revealed that Jeff was taken to Missouri Baptist for treatment, where he received two blood transfusions and a platelet transfusion. He returned home soon after and was surrounded by family and friends.

“Jeff in Eureka” called into “The Rizzuto Show” on July 29 to inform his colleagues of his condition. “As you can tell, I’m a little weak in my voice, but it’s been 10 days or so,” Jeff shared on the show. “We were in the hospital for a while, and then we came home and decided hospice was the best thing right now. As for the medical doctors, they were like, ‘That’s pretty much what we have for you right now,'” she said through labored breathing.
“(The cancer diagnosis) has made me very humble and very fortunate to realize who’s got my back in all of this and all that kind of stuff, so that’s a pretty cool thing,” Jeff added. “It’s crazy how you know how—and how many people you know—give as— about you”.
