Jeffrey Epstein’s brother hints Bill Barr could be ‘protecting’ someone over jail suicide

Former US Attorney General Bill Barr may have “protected” high-profile people linked to Jeffrey Epstein’s prison cell suicide, the notorious sex offender’s younger brother says in a new interview.

Mark Epstein speculated in an interview with NewsNation’s Leland Vittert that his brother’s good relationship may have played a role in his shocking death.

“He has dirt on people. In 2016, he said he had dirt on the then-presidential candidate,” Mark Epstein told the outlet.

Jeffrey Epstein, 66, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Metropolitan Correctional Center on August 10, 2019.

At the time, the billionaire denied federal charges for allegedly sex-trafficking underage girls from Florida to New York.

Mark Epstein, however, challenged then-Attorney General Barr’s announcement that a pathologist ruled his brother died of suicide by hanging thanks to a “screw-up” in prison.

“Yes, there was a problem, but that doesn’t mean my brother committed suicide,” Mark said, pointing out that the cause of death on his brother’s death certificate actually read “pending.”

“Why is Barr covering this up? Who is he protecting?” Mark added.

“We need more answers. Not much investigation was done at all,” he claimed.

“The medical staff, the pathologist – none of them have been questioned, which is very unusual, especially in a high-profile case,” says Mark.

The Justice Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mark, 69, previously told The Post that Jeffrey bragged about having serious inside information on Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

“Here’s a direct quote: ‘If I say what I know about both candidates, they will have to cancel the election.’ That’s what Jeffrey told me in 2016,” he said earlier this month.

In his interview with NewsNation, Mark Epstein declined to speculate on the major allegations against his brother — who have been thrown into high relief for the past two weeks with the release of hundreds of documents from a civil suit against Jeffrey’s girlfriend-turned-wife, Ghislaine Maxwell.

As well as allegations of gruesome sexual abuse and even trafficking, the document includes the names of several high-profile associates – including Trump, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and even Stephen Hawking.

“I think he was just having fun. You know, Jeffrey likes to have fun,” emphasized Mark.

When Jeffrey was arrested in July 2019, his legal team was ready to seek bail, Mark added.

“They will appeal [judge’s decision to deny bail], and Jeff charged a very large guarantee. His lawyer asked me if I would guarantee his entire bail, essentially doubling it. I agree,” he claimed.

“The highest bail in US history at the time was $100 million. I don’t remember the exact number, but it was probably about, I think, $160 million,” explained the real estate developer.

Mark Epstein was joined in the interview by his brother’s former lawyer, Alan Dershowitz, who was also embroiled in the scandal when Epstein’s accuser Virginia Giuffre claimed in 2014 that he sexually abused her.

Dershowitz, 85, commented on the continued scrutiny surrounding important records related to Epstein.

“No, I’ve never seen anything like that,” the prominent lawyer said of the continued existence of tapes and financial records related to Jeffrey Epstein, despite the ongoing lack of investigation.

“Since the day I was falsely accused, I have asked for every single paper, every video tape, every audio tape, every document to be released,” he lamented.
