Jen Shah Reveals Instagram Trolling Led To Suicidal Thoughts

American TV personality and reality star Jen Shah has revealed that she struggled with her mental health and came close to taking her own life after her name was used on a troll’s social media account following her legal battle.

The “Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City” star was arrested after being accused of using a telemarketing campaign to swindle people, especially seniors over 55, out of money.

Shah said everything took a toll on her, except for her husband, who did the needful by getting her medical attention.

Jen Shah Arrested For Alleged Fraud

The reality TV star was arrested in March 2021 on charges of fraud and money laundering after being accused of targeting senior citizens over the age of 55 in a bogus telemarketing scheme.

follow Page SixShah and his colleague, Stuart Smith, are accused of defrauding hundreds of individuals by persuading gullible victims to invest in shady web schemes and enterprises since 2012.

Prosecutors claimed that they built a list of possible victims or “leaders,” many of whom they had used before, and distributed these names to other conspirators so they might retarget individuals, for whom they would receive a portion in return.

The Homeland Security Investigations Special Agent said, “Shah and Smith displayed their lavish lifestyles to the public as a symbol of their ‘success’. vulnerable groups, often the elderly, the working class.”

Prosecutors revealed that Shah earned about $5 million in “criminal proceeds.” He initially pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

“Bravolebrity” opened up about his suicidal thoughts after Angie and Chris Harrington hijacked his name for their troll Instagram account following his cheating case.

Angie co-stars with Shah on the reality show “RHOSLC” and is married to Chris. He admitted to creating an Instagram account called “Shah’s Exposed” to denounce their former friend, Lisa Barlow.

Shah revealed that using his last name made it look like his whole family was involved, but in fact, that was not the case.

“I tried to kill myself and my husband had to take me to the hospital,” she told per Page Sixadding that “the whole Angie Harrington and Chris Harrington thing affected me to the point where I tried to take my own life.”

He previously revealed taking antidepressants after being accused of defrauding people out of millions of dollars.

Gen Shah Changes His Plea

When the reality star was first charged with the charges, she denied the allegations and maintained her innocence, even vowing to “fight the charges.”

“I am innocent… and look forward to the trial so that you, along with others, can see the truth,” he first wrote in an Instagram post in March.

In the final moments before his trial, he changed his earlier “not guilty” plea to “guilty” and also admitted to committing “wire fraud” before US District Judge Sidney Stein.

According to a Twitter post by Inner City NewspaperShah was asked by the judge what he was doing, which he was answered, “Wire fraud, offering services of little or no value. We use interstate phone and email.” He continued, “I know a lot of buyers are 55 and over. I’m sorry.”

If convicted, Shah faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison and five years of supervised release, although he asked for that sentence to be reduced to 11 to 14 years in prison and also for up to $9.5 million in restitution in his plea agreement.

His sentencing, which was previously scheduled to take place in November, was moved to January 6, 2023.

Jen Shah May Not Return For ‘RHOSLC’ Season 4

Following the legal drama and the embattled reality star’s “guilty” plea change, the executive producer of the “Real Housewives” franchise, Andy Cohen, has hinted that Shah may not appear on the show again.

While answering a question from a fan at BravoCon 2022 about why Shah wasn’t present at the series panel, Cohen responded, saying, “Once we finish Season 3 and he pleads guilty, I think that’s kind of, unfortunately, the end of, you know, the engagement there. “

He went on to add that he hopes to “sit down with him and talk to him at some point on camera” because he has a lot of questions for him. “RHOSLC” is currently airing its third season.
