follow Page Six, in a recent appearance on the “Louis Theroux Podcast,” Jennette McCurdy made a more troubling revelation about her late mother, Debra McCurdy. The revelation comes nearly a year after she released her wildly successful memoir, “I’m Glad My Mother Died.”
During a podcast interview, McCurdy revealed her mother bathed her every day until she was “17 or 18.” She remembers Debra “shampooing and conditioning [Jennette’s] hair [and] wash [her] body.” McCurdy further claimed that her mother would give her “breast and vaginal exams in the shower” while claiming that she was checking for lumps, which indicated cancer.
The “iCarly” alum spoke about feeling “uncomfortable” and “violating[d]” during this inspection. However, the one time he brought his mother a solo shower, it caused a “hysterical” reaction. McCurdy maintained a showering routine until her mother’s cancer battle began.

Shortly after he released the memoir, McCurdy did a promotional interview on “Red Table Talk.” The “Sam & Cat” alum read one of her experiences from the book for host Jada Pinkett Smith. His story is how Debra forced him to shower with an older brother for years until he was 11 years old.
He read, “He’s almost 16 at this point. I felt embarrassed when he bathed us together. I can tell he is too. … Scotty asked if he could take a shower by himself [on his] own Mom sobbed and said she didn’t want him to grow up, so he never asked again after that.”
When Smith asked McCurdy if the negative experience affected his relationship with his siblings, he said they remained “very close” regardless. “They have been a source of love and consistency in my life when there wasn’t much else. We have such a beautiful bond … because of what we’ve been through together and seen together,” McCurdy said.

During the “Red Table Talk” interview, McCurdy also shared an email Debra sent him before her death. The email featured multiple insults in all caps and emphasized Debra’s frustration with her daughter.
It reads, per People magazine, “You used to be my perfect little angel, but now you’re nothing more than a little … slut, a whore, it’s all gone.” He went on to criticize McCurdy for his choice of partner, saying he had chosen a “horrible monster” and that he had seen him “rubbing his disgusting hairy belly” on “a website called TMZ.”
Later in the email, Debra called McCurdy a “fraudulent, evil … liar” and shamed him for his weight gain. She wrote, “You look fatter too. You eat your guilt. Thinking about you with a ding-dong inside you makes me sick. sick! I raised you better than this.” This email is just one of several examples of abuse and genital mutilation that McCurdy shares in her memoir.
