Former actress, Jennette McCurdy, has finally reached a point where she can feel some peace about her mother despite being abused by her during her life.
Earlier this month, the Nickelodeon star released a heartbreaking memoir titled “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” The memoir explores the abuse, toxicity, and exploitation she faced as a child star. It is also filled with revelations about his upbringing and his mother’s abusive behavior, including forcing him to act at a young age.
Now, speaking with Anna Faris on the “Anna Faris Is Unqualified” podcast, the star shared that she is now at a point of peace.

Jennette McCurdy Glad She Can ‘Miss’ Her Mom

In a recent podcast appearance on Anna Faris “Anna Faris is Unqualified” (Via Yahoo Entertainment), McCurdy expressed relief at being able to miss her mother despite being abused by her. According to her, she has found some solace and closure from writing the memoir, which details the horrific abuse she endured at the hands of her mother.
“I think closure is difficult to achieve if it is possible,” he began. “But I think the book helped me. I think there were some attempts to find closure. Now, I can have this experience with my mother where I can miss her.”

She continued, “Just having ‘oh, I miss her,’ and that can be it. Instead of, ‘I miss her, I want to throw something, I’m angry, I’m hurt, I don’t want to miss her, I miss her. It’s been so complicated for so long , and now it feels easier.”

Living in an Abusive Home Is ‘Normal’ for Him

As she reminisced about her childhood, she shared that growing up in an abusive home was “normal” to her. Despite the constant abuse he suffered, the writer does not consider his life to be abnormal.
“For me, my brothers were playing Nintendo Goldeneye while my mom chased my dad around the house with a knife. It became very normal, part of the daily routine,” explained the child star.
“When I was little, I didn’t realize it was abuse or trauma. I just thought, ‘Boys playing 007, mom chasing dad with a knife, grandma crying with toilet paper on her head.'”
He also explains to Faris that there is nowhere to hide whenever there is chaos because his mother is a hoarder, and the things she collects take up all the space.

Jennette McCurdy Refused to Accept $300,000 in Hush Money

The child star revealed that Nickelodeon offered her $300,000 to stop her from speaking publicly about her experiences at the network. However, he “immediately and instinctively” rejected the money while calling out Nickelodeon for the alleged bribery.
“What the hell? Nickelodeon offered me a $300,000 hush money to not talk publicly about my experience on the show?” he said at the time. While talking to Faris, she shared that the decision was difficult to make because the money could have gone a long way in her life at the time.
“I’m 21 years old and I just came from a selfish place,” he told Faris. “And right after the decision, go like ‘f–k, that’s a lot of money. I can put my nephew through college.'”

He Has Got Support In His Relationship Now

The star also talked about her life at the moment, explaining how she was able to find happiness with her current boyfriend, whom she called “supportive.”
He doesn’t know what a “healthy relationship” looks like and assumes certain behavior patterns, tensions or fights, are normal due to the number of unhealthy relationships he’s been in. “I think this is normal, and maybe it’s a product of dysfunction,” shared the author.
“To be able to be in something where it’s really good communication and validation of other people’s emotions and not having to take over other people’s emotions and be able to provide support, it has changed my world so sincerely. I didn’t know anything like this was possible.”
