The former actress recently recalled one of the scariest moments of her life when she believed she had bread in the oven. The Nickelodeon alum’s conception scare comes weeks after the 31-year-old expressed her disinterest in motherhood despite considering freezing her eggs.

While some women are excited to learn about their pregnancies, the “Sam & Cat” star is “terrified” of having a baby she never planned for — an unforgettable moment that happened once in the TV producer’s adult life.
Although the “iCarly” alum didn’t share the show’s timeline, the entertainer said she was blindsided by shocking news a few years ago while struggling with adult acne. At the time, the Los Angeles native was on the lowest dose of an acne medication called Accutane and required frequent blood tests at the dermatologist’s office.

“You have to take a test to show that you know all the risks involved, and you have to sign a contract that says that under no circumstances will you get pregnant while taking Accutane,” McCurdy recalled on his latest episode of the “Hard Feelings” podcast. Explaining the drug’s strict rules, the 31-year-old added:
“You need to use two forms of contraception. You have to go, and you have to get a blood test once a month. You should go to your dermatologist after getting your blood work every month just for a checkup.”
Although according to the rules, “What’s Next for Sarah?” producer got a call he never expected. After the blonde beauty called to cancel her dermatologist appointment, the receptionist called her back to relay the doctor’s insistence on keeping the scheduled visit.
The receptionist’s depressed tone raises alarm bells in McCurdy’s head, who wonders why he can’t reschedule his appointment. Recounting the conversation between the two, the author of “I’m Glad My Mother Died” said:
“I was like, ‘What the f—?’… I went, ‘Can I come in next week?’ He said, ‘No, because we got your blood test results, and there was a pregnancy.'”
“My head is spinning. I am very dizzy. I accidentally sat on the edge of the bed. My body fell over the edge of my bed, and I was like, ‘What?’ I got a cotton mouth,” he confessed, noting the exposure was as if “I got the wind knocking me over.”
Following the call, the “Generational Love” singer hailed an Uber and rushed to the dermatologist’s office in a frenzy. However, the entertainer’s fears turned out to be unconfirmed speculation about his blood results.
“He was like, ‘Well, sometimes there are false pregnancies that come up on this because of your hormone levels because of the medications,'” the “Zoey 101” actress recalled. “I was like, ‘What? Why wouldn’t you say that this wasn’t a certain thing from the start?'”

After a second test, the Kids’ Choice Award winner confirmed she wasn’t pregnant, but the emotional damage had already taken place. Despite avoiding the bullet of motherhood, the former actress could not get rid of the bitter memories. In the words of the 31-year-old:
“I’m not pregnant, and that’s fine. But the experience was so terrifying that I was like, ‘I have to let go of this—. This is not for me.’ That was last year.”
Jennette McCurdy Is Thinking About Freezing Her Eggs Despite Not Wanting Children
Weeks before tackling her pregnancy scare, the Australian Kids’ Choice Award recipient opened up about motherhood. During an episode of her “Hard Feelings” podcast, McCurdy revealed she was considering freezing her eggs in case she changed her mind about children.
“I don’t feel in any way, shape, or form like I want kids. I can’t imagine a world where one day I want kids,” the entertainer admitted before assuring fans that her disinterest in children are not made of stone.
“I’m also open to changing my mind,” added the Nickelodeon alum. “I have changed a lot as a person in my years so far, and I hope to continue to change.” McCurdy wanted to prepare for this possible change by freezing her eggs. In the words of the star “Between”:
“What I don’t want to happen is that I’m 40 years old and realize, ‘F—, I want kids now,’ and I don’t have enough eggs to make it happen.”
