A full five-ingredient cinnamon toast recipe, which is actually from The New York Times, is as follows:

  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • a pinch of salt
  • unsalted butter, for cooking
  • 4 slices of bread

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, cinnamon & salt.
  2. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over med-low; enough to lightly coat the bottom of the pan when melted. When bubbling, add as many slices of bread as will fit. Turn the bread to absorb the butter, add more if the pan is dry. Cook until light golden brown, 2-3 minutes. Adjust heat as needed to prevent burning.
  3. Add another pat of butter, flip the bread and turn to coat the other side in butter, gently press the bread to pick up the brown bits. Sprinkle the baked top with a thin layer of cinnamon sugar. Cook the underside until golden brown, 1-2 minutes, adding more butter and adjusting the temperature if the pan is dry or the toast is burnt.
  4. Flip and cook until sugar sizzles and begins to melt, 30 seconds-1 min.
  5. Transfer to a plate, sugar the top. Sprinkle the toast with more cinnamon sugar. Wipe out the pan and repeat with the remaining bread.
  6. DELICIOUS.
