Jeremy Renner Opens Up About Snowplow Accident & Saving His Nephew

Jeremy Renner has no regrets about saving his nephew’s life during a snow plowing accident earlier this year. The actor recently reiterated his love for his family while opening up about the incident that left him hospitalized for two weeks.

Renner had suffered several injuries after he was crushed under a heavy-duty snow removal vehicle for a short time. He has undergone surgery and has been undergoing physical therapy sessions at his home, often updating his fans on his progress via social media.

Jeremy Renner Will Definitely Save His Nephew’s Life Again

Renner surprisingly showed up for his nephew in true “Avenger” style when he pushed the latter away from an oncoming snowplow. The “Mayor of Kingstown” has used a seven-ton plow to try to help his grown-up nephew — Alexander Fries — pull his car out of the snow after they spent New Year’s together.

At one point, the 52-year-old jumped out and forgot to activate the plow’s emergency brake, causing it to go toward Fries. The “Neo Ned” star’s attempt to get back into the still-moving vehicle to stop it caused him to be pulled under it.

His heroics nearly cost him his life as he suffered blunt chest trauma and multiple orthopedic injuries, breaking more than 30 bones during the incident, according to The Blast. Even so, Renner would make the same decision if the situation happened again.

In a clip shared via ABC News’ YouTube platform, the Oscar nominee told Diane Sawyer that he was awake throughout the horrific incident and can still remember the pain. The “28 Weeks Later” star then emphatically declared:

The upcoming special, which includes a chilling 911 call as a trapped Renner moans in the background, also sees his niece remind Sawyer, “I just saw him in a pool of blood coming out of his head. I ran over to him; I didn’t think he was alive .”

An emotional Renner joked that although he had “lost a lot of flesh and bone,” he had been “refueled and refilled with love — and titanium.” In the end, the Modesto Junior College alum considered himself “lucky,” stressing that he “chose to hang on” with the thought “you’re not going to kill me” always running through his mind.
