As lawmakers consider bills that propose expanding Nevada’s film tax credit program, Jeremy Renner revealed his hope that they will include northern Nevada.
The bill aims to slowly expand Nevada’s existing film tax program from $10 million annually in film tax credits to $190 million annually over 20 years. The bulk of the credit, totaling $175 million, will be dedicated to developing two proposed production sites in Las Vegas — one at the University of Nevada and the other in the Summerlin area.
Jeremy Renner Asks Lawmakers For Help In Expanding Nevada Film Tax Credit to Northern Nevada
Renner lobbied lawmakers on Monday, May 22, for a third production campus that he claims could rival film production studios in Atlanta and New Mexico, where he has filmed various movies, including “Avengers.”
Unfortunately, the bill’s sponsor, Democratic Sen. Roberta Lange of Las Vegas, and Brandon Birtcher, the developer who masterminded the project, told the actor that the move had gone too far for them to make any other changes or expansions.
However, Lange noted that the potential amendment could make provision for a study that would investigate the economic benefits that the expansion of northern Nevada would bring. The MP stated:
“It took two years to get the bill where it is now. So to bring in something else, a new idea at this point, it probably won’t work. But I think we have to look at it.”

Speaking about the motivation behind his lobbying, Renner, who lives in Washoe County, told Associated Press“I have a desire and want to…speak for the people of Elko [County]people here in Washoe, that we also deserve the opportunity to reap the benefits of building studios, jobs, [and] infrastructure for the film industry. And that’s my main motivation for being here.”
Chief “Hawkeye” later shared a photo of himself at the Nevada Assembly on Instagram, writing in the caption, “This is me being quiet, listening, watching [the] representative local government[s] all of Nevada. What a privilege and honor to witness and be welcomed into the policies, bills and legislation to hopefully better represent this beautiful state and its state. [sic] hard working citizens… ?? #thank you.”
The move was instantly welcomed by over 64k people, one of whom wrote in the comments, “Always something new and exciting with You!!” The second person asks, Is there anything you don’t do? All right, Jeremy,” and a third exclaimed, “That’s Great! Make a difference!!”
“Maybe you should run for Congress. You have the clout and the heart to restore the house,” a fourth fan advised Renner. Meanwhile, this netizen, who was focused on something else, commented, “Great walking stick, Mr. Renner. Kudos to you and your miraculous recovery. God bless you.”

Renner continues to recover after miraculously surviving being trapped under a 14,000-pound snow plow earlier this year. As The Blast reported, he suffered severe injuries, including more than 30 broken bones, which led to intense therapy sessions.
Throughout the process, the “Mission Impossible” star has kept her 20.8 million Instagram followers in the loop, often sharing clips of her working out. In a recent update, she uploaded a video of herself warming up with some techniques in anticipation of the upcoming workout session.
The 52-year-old wore a long-sleeved black hoodie, gray shorts, and colorful gym shoes as he moved from side to side and squatted in the footage. While seeing him move almost effortlessly is great, the accompanying caption caught the attention of his fans. The Screen Actors Guild Award winner typed:
“UPDATE: I’ve decided to continue suffering progress (this shattered tibia) and take the new part for a little test drive. The body is magical…Though I feel like the Tin Man, need oil for all my new joints (hips, knees, ankles, tibias etc). Encouraged after this warm-up to continue (don’t tell my PT).”
“Be careful not to overdo it & hold yourself back. “Smart progress is more important than very fast progress,” wrote one netizen. A second person declared, “Proud of you but make sure you listen to the doctor’s orders,” a third added, “Looks great! Just don’t push too hard and end up causing more damage!!”
