During his appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Eisenberg discussed the time he met Danes with benefits. The chance meeting happened 15 years ago before they starred in the Hulu miniseries “Fleishman Is In Trouble.”
Eisenberg attended the benefit with his now-wife, Anna Strout, whom he was dating at the time. He remembers breaking up with her, and then, by chance, he runs into Denmark.
He said, per Insider“I broke up with him[Strout] there, and I ended up talking to this woman[Danes]. We had gone to the same high school, and he said he was an actor and he went to Yale.
Although Eisenberg did not reveal how long they spent talking, he shared that their conversation left a heavy impression on him in a good way.
She added, “I was just thinking, ‘My God. This is, like, the greatest person I’ve ever met in my life.’ And I told him that.”

Eisenberg said he went to his wife to recount his wonderful conversation with Denmark and even joked about the actor as his “soul mate.” At the time, he was still clueless about Denmark’s identity, but that quickly changed after he showed it to Strout.
The 39-year-old actor recalled, “And then, I walked up to my wife, and I said, ‘Honey, I think I just met my soulmate. I met this wonderful woman.’ And I pointed to the woman I wanted to be my soul mate, and Anna, my wife, she said, ‘That’s Claire Danes, idiot. Good luck.'”
Although Eisenberg has fond memories of that day, he shared that Denmark has no memory of the meeting, which he called the “greatest day” of his life.
He added, “He doesn’t remember it, which is an impression I usually make of people but especially in this case.”
They both starred in ‘Fleishman Is In Trouble’
Still, the pair got along well throughout the making of their first feature together, which premiered on Hulu on November 17. New episodes will drop every week until its season finale on December 29, 2022.
Adapted from Brodesser-Akner’s novel, “Fleishman Is in Trouble,” was created by the author, who also produces the show. In addition to Eisenberg and Danes, it also stars Lizzy Caplan and Adam Brody in the lead roles.
Eisenberg plays Toby Fleishman, a quadragenarian who has recently separated from his wife, Rachel, portrayed by Danes. Following their breakup, Rachel disappeared while Fleishman was left to care for the children. He then struggles to balance dating life with work and home while trying to unravel what happened to his wife.
