In a recent Instagram Story update, the Billboard Women in Music honoree subtly warned fans to stop spreading negative news about parenthood. The chart leader reposted a message by renowned leadership coach Harris Fanaroff, in which the consultant addressed the same problem.
The marketing guru explained that she was tired of hearing about the downsides of parenting. Cons cited include “You’ll never sleep again,” “Your travel life is over,” and “Say goodbye to your weekend.”
Fanaroff stated that he is expecting his first baby with his partner in the next three weeks and is “excited, nervous, anxious, and grateful” to be a father. The anxiety of soon-to-be parents may be caused by hearing about the consequences of having children rather than the benefits.
The pregnant singer shared similar sentiments in a note above the post, writing: “This. Therefore, people often share (mostly) only trauma and not joy. Both can exist. It can really ruin it for new parents.”
Jessie’s warning comes days after the Redbridge native celebrated Mother’s Day as an expectant parent. The “Price Tag” artist marked the occasion with an emotional post, paying tribute to her unborn child and the baby she lost in a miscarriage.
Via Instagram, Jessie shared a three-slide post, with the first being an ultrasound picture of the performer. In an instant, the songwriter’s son was captured with a sweet smile. The second image is a wall shot with the words: “I love you, and I want to be the best version of me for you,” written in black paint.

The final slide features a video of the famous vocalist in a black jumpsuit, singing and cradling her baby bump at a performance. “You. Thank you for coming to me,” the ASCAP Award winner began the heartfelt caption. “Thank you for trusting me that my body can keep you safe. Thank you for gifting me with the most special experience to date, and with the most important role I will play in my entire life.”
“I love you so much that it touches me; this is true,” continued Jessie. “I am yours forever, my child. I can’t wait to meet you. And see this smile in real life.” The English songwriter then opened up about the father of her unborn child, NBA star Chanan Safir Colman.
“I love your Daddy very much. You won’t leave without him. He is the most patient, calm, and handsome man. You will LOVE him when you meet him,” the mom-to-be wrote.
Concluding her beautiful caption, the “Domino” artist reminisced about her miscarriage. “I felt very emotional because every Mother’s Day before was very different,” she admitted. “I know the pain that so many people feel today, and I hold you in my heart.”
