Jinger Duggar Credits Husband For Helping With Faith ‘Disentangling Journey’

Jinger Duggar publicly credits her husband, Jeremy Vuolo, for his unwavering support over the years in their marriage.

Jinger, who grew up in an ultraconservative family with her parents Jim Bob, and Michelle Duggar, was taught to act and dress in a certain way according to the teachings of Bill Gothard, founder of the Institute in Basic Life Principles.

The TV personality who finally broke away from her family’s cult-like religion in 2016 after marrying Vuolo recently revealed in an interview how her husband helped her navigate her journey away from his dangerous religious ideology.

Giving an insight into her current life, Duggar gave an interview with E! NEWS, where she gave a detailed revelation of how her husband played a key role in changing her perspective on her beliefs and attitudes.

Jinger noted how Vuolo has helped her a lot in her “breakaway journey” from the old practices she was used to.

She said, “Jeremy has been so good throughout this process. He’s been so patient with me because I know it must be hard for him to watch this wrestle. There are long days where it’s just emotional and hard and he’s just been there to support me , to help me, to comfort me.”

Jinger further explained how she couldn’t hold her own when she started courting the former footballer. In his words, “I wouldn’t really think for myself. I would just think, ‘What’s the right answer?’ or ‘What do I think I should say to him now?’”

The mother of two, however, states that the more time she spends with her husband, Vuolo, she learns that she can be herself and be comfortable in her own skin.

The former reality star explained, “Jeremy just encouraged me not to be someone I’m not, but just to be myself and feel comfortable and share my own opinion and have an opinion about life.” He goes on to admit that he thinks he has to be this “pleasant wife” for him to feel safe.

Although the Christian couple eventually chose to depart from the Duggar doctrine, it did not go without consequences. Per The Blast, Jinger and Vuolo faced backlash from fans for attending Halloween last year with their children.

Taking to Instagram to post a photo of her and her family dressed as fictional characters from children’s literature, Jinger and her husband dressed as Mr and Mrs Brown, while their eldest daughter, Felicity, acted as Paddington Bear, and the youngest, Evangeline Jo, was jar of marmalade.

Proud of her family’s character dressed up like that, she captioned the post, writing, “A young bear that needs our help, Henry….. It’s only one night.”

Judging fans, however, were not happy with the social media influencer’s post and continued to chastise him in the comments section. One angrily wrote, “Pastors like you should know the history of Halloween. I’m a little disappointed you celebrated it.” Another emphatically emphasized, “Halloween is not for Christianity.”

A rather disrespectful fan indirectly undermined his father’s efforts to raise him well and wrote, “Jim Bob is joking.” While saddened fans expressed their displeasure, writing, “Disappointed light and dark do not mix.”

“Christians have no business celebrating Halloween,” said another. One concerned fan chided Duggar, writing, “I don’t think you know the true meaning of this horrible day, why not celebrate Reformation Day, so sad.”

Jinger and Vuolo are the perfect example of a dream team but it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for the couple when they started courting.

According to reports, the couple met through Jinger’s sister, Jessa Duggar, and her husband, Ben Seewald. Jessa and her husband met Vuolo in Texas before the former soccer star visited the social media influencer’s family home in Arkansas.

She went on to state in a blog post that when she got to know Duggar, she prayed to God about continuing a relationship with the TV personality. The mother of two also admitted in their 2021 memoir, “The Hope We Hold,” that she “never felt such a strong attraction to anyone” after meeting Vuolo.

The former MLS player went on to reveal that Jinger’s dad initially gave him a hard time and even made him complete a 50-page survey before meeting his daughter. However, the couple persevered and fought hard for their love before finally tying the knot in October 2016.
